The Wire appreciation thread

Recently finished season 2. Frank Sobotka was a tremendously well written character and the whole premise of the series and his arc in particular was just superb.

Guys I've just finished the first season. Love it.

One question....
later in the next 4 series, do we revisit anything to do with Avon Barksdale ? Or is that it do with that story and do the team move on to other investigations? I see mcnaulty is now in a marine role,so figured he will be on another case? What about Omar, is that it for him? I've gots to know!

you ain't seen nothing yet. ;)

Heh yeah. There's such brilliant casting in this. Just about to start on the HD versions, really excited - I only watched this through once back in the day so it should feel pretty fresh.

Was reading up on some of the cast of the wire and turns out this one pretty much just played herself

In real life she's a premature crack baby, grew up dealing drugs, went to jail for murder at 14 and only got out 4 years before she got the job on the wire, got done for dealing again in 2011 after an operation that had been going on since 2008. Oh and her name in the show and in real life is Felicia Pearson lol.

She got the job on the wire just by meeting Michael K Williams (Omar) in a bar and he took her on set and got her the job. You'd think getting a break out of the blue like that she would have got it together, guess not.
