The Wire appreciation thread

Yeah, he is.
Dominic West (McNaulty) and Idris Elba (Stringer Bell) both play their character's accents fantastically, so many people thought they were American.

I totally did I'll admit but then I wasnt even sure what language most characters were speaking at first

Bloody hell, how long has Sky been showing the HD widescreen remaster on Sky Atlantic? Only noticed it last night and it was the last 2 episodes of S1. It doesn't appear to be on demand either:(. Series 2 starts on Friday according to the planner. I am assuming this is the HD remaster as it defo was framed in widescreen and highlighted in orange in the planer.

For the most part I though this was a great series.

The scene with McNulty and Bunk investigating a crime scene is a classic!

Necro - I'm what over a decade late to the party. Been meaning to get around to this for ages.
However:
The Wire, it is good.

Watched the first season today  that's what 13hours or something like that.

oh and the other thing I noticed is, there's essentially nothing to skip. There's no this is what happened last episode nonsense.

Oh how I envy you guys watching The Wire for the first time. Probably my favourite TV series without a doubt.

Started watching Gomarrah as I've heard it's essentially the Italian version of The Wire. So far so good.

I've only ever watched it on a portable tv when it was on bbc2 late night one year. I'll watch it back on a good quality release again sometime. I normally forget stories or details quite quick, this one is a bit too real so I'll not watch it soon

Whenever i see Aiden Gillen i always think of a Littlefinger. Personality wise he plays a similarish character to littlefinger, I wonder if his Character in the wire helped him get chosen for GoT.
