The Witcher 2 - Thread

I honestly think this is going to blast skyrim out of the water!!!! :D Sure elder scrolls has a larger fan base and is 100x more well known than the witcher but i feel this game is going to seriously leave its mark as one of the best rpgs to date!!! :)
 
Where is the cheapest place to buy this at the moment?

I am tempted to just buy it via gog to reward the developers for their anti -drm stance (they get more money that way).
 
Just pre-ordered this. Looks great. Although i have abandoned The Witcher, as i was just finding it quite boring tbh.
I think i will play the second one, then if i really enjoy it, i might try and finish off the first one:)
 
What has been the best offer on Premium Edition so far? I remember some deals around £20 mark not so long ago but can't find any atm.

I'm still considering getting the digital version from GOG.com, after all the money goes straight to the developer and you get some nice digital extras as well (Collector's Edition Artbook for instance).

Also heads up, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition coming up on GOG for $9.99 soon.

I like warm weather not only does it save on electric bill if i'm outside more often but the gas bill only gets used when i have a bath! :D

Looks fantastic, especially the magic. I never really bothered with magic in the first game but they seem to have really made it useful this time.

The game looks absolutely great, however my only doubt is with the story. Obviously we won't know until it comes out, but I just hope it sticks to the dark themes of the first game. Like demonic possessions, vampires, ghouls and creatures living in sewers etc. and of course, story about the Witchers themselves and more about Geralt. If its more simply about Kings and politics then I'll be disappointed.

Does this mean that everyone is going to take back all the nice things they've been saying about it. And it will go from the best game ever to the worst game ever:p
Suddenly instead of looking stunning, the exact same picture looks crap, because it was apparently developed for consoles.;)
 
To be fair, I put off playing the first one as there was talk of a console port (don't judge me, my PC spec was poor at the time!), I would be (pleasantly?) surprised if this actually happens.
 
This is bad PR, they should have announced it after PC version was out. But I am all for them getting more money, they deserve it. Just have to make sure PC version is not compromised.
 
PC Format UK have reviewed an early version, (pre-release) version of The Witcher 2 and this is what they had to say:
Pro's: Involving Combat, Stupendous Visuals, Varied gaming.

If the bugs are stamped out (awkward pathfinding), we've got a new king of role-playing to doff our caps to. Witcher 2 is vast, varied and challenging.

I'm not surprised about the news of a pending console port, the first was initially being worked on for porting as well, as Rise of the White Wolf, however they found they had to compromise too much.

If they find thier new engine can offer a decent game on the consoles then by all means, as long as they accept the PC is thier lead platform and don't compromise for it, which they seem to be doing a good job with. The PC graphics alone on high settings look like nothing you'll find on the consoles from what I've seen, and the game doesn't exactly seem massively dumbed down from the previews.
