The Witcher 2 - Thread

Maybe this will show the big publishers that PC gaming isnt dead , its just that we cant stand the usless carp they churn out that is console based, games like this and ARMA2 shows that there is a dedicated market for the PC.

I only hope that EA dont influence DICE to much and BF3 is all they say it is.

Hats off the cdprojekt this game looks epic , preorder is in and i truley hope that if someone thinks about pirating the game they dont , and just buy it , or PC gaming might be in big trouble !

So do you think I'll be looking at maxing this beast out with a i5@4Ghz and a heavily OC'd 470? From them specs it looks like I should!

(my 470 is identical to a stock 570)

Argh I panicked then.. Just went to install the first Witcher so I could finish it this weekend and the first CD wasn't in its case! Just had to hunt through all my other cases to find it, turns out it was in my Mass Effect box, shows how long its been since I last played it!

You could always buy it on gog.com for the paltry sum of three pound and never have to worry about losing the disk again. Plus you'll not have to deal with the painful upgrade process on re-install.

Didn't realise it was only £3 now! What was the painful upgrade process? I only had to install it and put 1.5 on.

I had to install 1.4, the language pack and then 1.5 all of which had to be googled as the official (Polish sources) didn't seem to be working reliably. It was rather arduous.

Please don't tell me you can jump straight to the 1.5 upgrade as I will not be happy.

Amazon still havent even sent my order looks like there waiting until monday to dispatch peoples orders which is just stupid 1 day before release lazy gits

Have you got the original release? I've got the Enhanced Edition, it comes prepatched to 1.4 with the language packs! :)

Yeah, I was thinking it might be something similar to how Valve do it where even the retail copies are incomplete meaning piracy is nearly impossible before launch as only they have the full loader.

Even the GOG version keeps some of the files out of the install, and downloads them on release.

You can't stop piracy, but you CAN stop zero day piracy, which in my opinion is the most damaging kind, so I'm happy that CD Projekt are doing this.

Also patches will (initially at least) be only available to registered owners of the game via the in-game autopatcher, to make the pirated versions more of a hassle to keep updated, and to reward legit users with free DLC.

Still didnt dispatch today from Game.

I sent them a complaint Email for not having it dispatced in time to be ready to play on release day, which they normally do and guarantee under their 'first to play' policy.

Also they ruined my B'day pressie, now I am going to be waiting on the 17th for it to arrive rather than being able to play it right away :(

Yes I am that picky when it comes to pre orders, should have really bought it on GoG, but I really wanted the box.

Bought the collectors edition (OMFG) from shopto and TNT said it was out for delivery today, between 9-6, 6pm came and nothing had come - yay for TNT
