As far as i'm aware nothing. They have just added in bits to reduce performance cost like lowering AA and overall quality.
I got exactly the same fps before and after.
I had to turn all the settings back up again after the patch though.
Have you checked your CPU usage during it all. Folks on reddit reporting they're getting CPU spikes to 100% usage, fps tanks and the game freezes a bit, or stutters a lot.
Seems something is afoot somewhere. Although reinstalling or verifying game files didn't fix any of my issues.
Now that I'm back on 1.06 everything is honkydory.
Can someone please tell me how you're supposed to patch this game from 1.06 to 1.07?
If you're using the Galaxy client you can just go into configure and set it to auto update and install, if that doesn't work you can go into get backup and extras and manually download it from there.
Any tips to improve performance with a 980 G1 at 1440P? Averaging like 45-50 fps with a few settings turned off or reduced.
Only bought the 980 in February and I'm already contemplating getting a second or just throwing more money at 980TI's can't stand the sight of low fps.

Patch hasn't seemed to change anything for me in terms of FPS but the alternative movement option makes this game so much more enjoyable to play. All of you need to use it ASAP.
Even if my FPS took a hit there's no way I'd return to the previous patch.

I'm playing with a 360 game pad, and had a quick play with the new alternative movement setting. I couldn't tell any difference to be honest. I literally only tried for about 10 secs though so maybe I'm not seeing it? What's the actual difference? Maybe it only affects mouse and keyboard control?
I also use a Xbox ONE controller.
The original default movement option has a distinct input delay and the character is very unwieldy when it comes to small movements and rotations.
The alternative movement setting completely removes that large input delay and rotations are faster. It feels much more smooth and pleasant to control the character. You should really try to get it working. There's no way you wouldn't notice the difference.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\config\base\gc.ini
Open that file
"; Number of threads the GC should be running on
NumThreads = 1"
Change 1 to 4
Save the file.
It's a config file for the asset streaming system of the game, it's set to only run on 1 CPU thread by default, increasing it should make a difference for the better, at least it did for me and i have an OCd hexa core Intel CPU.
Please don't buy into all this "CPU doesn't really matter" BS flying around.
