The Witcher 3 Benchmarks

Could you please also record some combat with a group of enemies with and without hairworks please. Looks better now although you also have a 390+Mhz overclock. So a Stock TX might still not get that constant 60fps.

This just further proves folks claiming their 970's can run 1440p Ultra 60fps are having a laugh.

The launch day and patch 1.03 tests for Titan X was an average 40 fps with hairworks, and 50-60 without it.

I will be doing some more footage soon and will include combat. I only added +100 to my core in fairness and the stock clocks boost to 1320Mhz ish. With patches, I have seen some nice gains in frames and always play with HairWorks on full. As I run G-Sync on the Swift, even low 40's feels nice and smooth.

Supposedly the 1.07 patch includes a Hairworks slider according to a poster on the Anandtech forums.

Patch 1.07 was 7GB in size, and promised numerous bug fixes and performance improvements.

The swamps in Velen bring my FPS down into the 40's.

It turns out the patch has hammered console performance again as well. This patch was supposed to give performance improvements according to the developers.
As it stands though patch 1.07 has frozen and crashed 7 times today, and my reduced old minimums of 62 fps down to 42.
My averages are now in the 60's, and at odd times my max spikes to 90's.

Full Ultra settings inc Hairworks and HBAO+
Patch 1.06
Min FPS recorded at 62
Avg 74
Max 86

Patch 1.07
Min FPS 42
Avg 66
Max 94

It's extremely inconsistent with an overall lowering in performance and lots of lag spikes.

I've also had 7 crashes/freezes in the game. Once when quick travelling and the rest all during cutscenes/dialogue.

Even dropped CPU overclock to stock, and it did nothing to help.

Can anyone test the Hairworks sliders to see what impact on performance and image quality it has??

For Kepler users it might be very important!!

For me I see no difference in performance With hairworks minimum/low or high/maxed.

Then again my FPS jumps around more than a coked up monkey on a trampoline.

Ugh, Patch 1.07 was supposed to specifically address pop in, improve performance, and fix bugs.

So far it's done the opposite of what they set out to do.

Actually had someone on reddit say I should be quiet and be happy I can get over 60 fps.
I shudder to think what this patch does to people without SLI 980Tis. Digital Foundry already showed the patch on PS4 is horrid for performance as well.

Yeah, i saw the DF video of the PS4 version. 20 FPS when it got mostly 30FPS pre patch. The pop in was never as bad as that pre patch. Was the patch outsourced to Iron Galaxy by any chance? :D

Who bloody knows, it was over 7GB as well.

I like the new hairworks features, and inventory/stash but that's it. Everything else is much worse.

I also noticed that any sharpening you have is also disabled in the cutscenes, the same applies to the nice new detailed hairworks..... What's the point in that....

Here's screenshots of it.
Patch 1.07 left, 1.06 right normal in game

my performance on 2 980s seems better especially in the rain. Hair looks better to.

hmm , my impression was the same, that performance is better after new patch. 5-10fps better while playing. With hairworks fps don't drop so much as before.

Also been playing couple of hours and no freeze, black screen or windows desktop.

My minimum fps has tanked 20fps on average, and my averages are now 10fps lower. Only difference is my max fps now spikes into 90's instead of 80s.

Overall the game is worse for performance and stability, and even with G-Sync those sudden FPS drops from mid 60's to low 40's is extremely jarring.

Also if anyone is able to roll back to 1.06 it also means you lose the new Ciri alternative look DLC. It only installs with 1.07

EDIT: I rolled backed to 1.06 ( wasn't greyed out for me ), new saves are useless and no Ciri Armour DLC, but performance is great again.

I went to the same Spot in the swamp I was in last night and instead of my fps bouncing around in the 40's it was now in the mid 70s.
The spot is just south of Frischlow in Velen, there's a treasure and you can use the magic lamp; if anyone wants to head there.

Can someone tell me their lowest minimums FPS on witcher 3 with a single 980ti on 1440p and 1080p if possible. State your Overclocks and CPU as well.

Going from 1.06 to 1.07, in my current save spot went from 48.1 fps to 49.9.

Not a very useful comparison just one save game but hey.

More interesting though is the new hairworks options, it's finally viable at 4k on a single TX.

So I enable it and turn the AA and level down to the lowest and I get 47fps in the same scene so essentially hairworks now costs 1 fps compared to v1.06 frames which is worth it.

Is anyone else getting the crazy shadows and huge pop in i'm getting in my videos? Debating whether or not to delete and re install the lot. Cheers.
