With the exception of Oblivion... its an impressive line-up. (i dont rate Oblivion as highly as the others) I'd rather play The Witcher over Oblivion any day.. but anyway not so bad i guess...considering PCZ isnt really a PC RPG mag. (more like PC FPS mag but thats just the chip on my shoulder)
i finished yesterday, mused over story, felt like i'd watched a film of sorts and then restarted last night without thinking about moddingDamn, just finished the game. Safe to say my favorite game of all time. The final sequence is really amazing, especially if you have no-lifed the game for a whole week and done every quest like me and have become an unstoppable powerhouse. The end certainly does the game justice and I'd like to wager the Pcz reviewer never got that far... such an epic story!
My only criticisms are that maybe some of the boss battles trhoughout the game were a little easy, but if you have completed every optional quest and are only playing on medium I guess that's to be expected. Apart from that.. pretty much my idea of a perfect game.
I just found myself meandering around in the game for no real reason. I think they made an engine, rather than a game. But thats just my opinion. I will take the storyline and plot devices of the Witcher over the spooge graphics of Oblivion any day of the week
This is the most positive thread I have seen for a game in a long time!
Playing Oblivion felt like doodling, whatever you were doing was of no real importance. Freedom to do nothing.ahh..but the trouble is you see...Oblivion looked incredible, had shiny graphics all over the place, and bump mapping and shading out of the whazoo. We all know the publications start spooging all over their desks the moment they see graphics like that, and immediately whack an extra 20% on the score
I never really liked Oblivion much to be honest..it seemed ok, but I actually found that it was SO free form and so non-linear that a lot of what I was doing just seemed pointless, I just found myself meandering around in the game for no real reason. I think they made an engine, rather than a game. But thats just my opinion. I will take the storyline and plot devices of the Witcher over the spooge graphics of Oblivion any day of the week
