Can I ask quick question (contains a spoiler)!

Im on the side quest at the start of the act 1. In the inn I have the fighting quest. I have won the first fight vs big fred (or whatever he was called) the next step to the quest is to find a tougher opponent. THere is a man called "tough fighter" I presume its him I need to fight . I click on him and he doesnt respond. Can anyone tell me if this is a bug or do I need to level up or something before I fight him.? Any omments would be appreciated

I think youre done for chapter 1 with regard to that quest.

You continue to progress this quest in each chapter. You'll have your next encounter with a named fighter in chapter 2 when you're in Vizima.

I played this for most of the weekend. I was rather gutted on Sunday, as I hadn't saved for ages, managed to take down 8 ghouls and the bigger ghouls in the swamps, and then one of those annoying tree's pwned me. I lost about 30 minutes of wandering about in the swamps due to that so I turned it off and watched TV instead. I will be playing it again tonight though.

Oh, and for anyone that's wondering, The Last Wish (the first book) is absolutely awesome. The first part of it is actually the entire intro of the game, but in more detail. So far it's a gripping read.

I might get that book, sounds great. The world of The Witcher certainly is a compelling and interesting one, going by the game at least.

How do i get ghouls echinops and drowned dead in the beastery? I guess i have to buy a book from somewhere?

Correct, you have to buy or find books. If you look absolutely everywhere you will find them, but it's quicker to buy them if you can afford to blow that much money (they're bloody expensive.)

Great thanks for the info Chokka and sareth.

Going to take me a long time to finish the Witcher as i'm waiting for a back operation (discectomy) which i'm hoping will be this month. I can't sit down for the pain so I think i'll put it aside for something to look forward to when i'm home from hospital

well i finnaly got arround to starting the game, got about 20 mins in and already had a crash, lucky for me it auto saved just beffor it crashed

So far im likeing the game too, gets a thumbs up from me.

I crash rather regular, about every 2-3 hrs of gameplay and crash, running windows xp.

As for books being xpensisve, just run around playing poker with the professionals, i raked in a cool 1000 after a few games

I have been going into every house opening every barrel and still can't find all the books. I am spending a fortune on them - this is one game where I am constantly broke. I actually think it is a good thing as it makes you care more about your decisions unlike other games (Oblivion and Two Worlds) where you have more gold than you could possibly spend.

I am becoming a Witcher hermit. The only negative I have is that it will have to end.

Aye I have to agree with that, once or twice I've had to decide between purchases and things (armour or books or something else.) It's much more realistic,especially since Geralt is pretty much a hobo now that he's not got a lot of work.

I can't get the vista hotfix installed,tells me that the update does not apply to my system :confused:

are you sure you havnt installed it beffor?

EDIT: had another go at playing, got 10 mins in and again another crash, this game is buggy as hell, think ill give up till they patch it.
