The Witcher series (Netflix)

loved the first series but it just slowly got worse. There was maybe an episode worth of Geralt in the last series. If they wanted to do a series on the others then why not just call it that.

Because all they ever wanted was the IP and Geralt for name recognition, so they could "tell their own stories garbage" - this is what they do steal the IP, ruin it, throw it away and then replace it trash no-one asked for or wants to watch, then blame the fans for not watching it. Burn it to the ground, and onto the next IP.

While they have deviated from the source in many ways, almost everything you're complaining about are things that are more or less true to the source material.
You'd be right to be annoyed by a lot of the casting and character/story direction choices, but you'd be wrong to think they've made Geralt a side character or turned it into a "fem empowerment show".

Maybe read the books and get back to us. You've got at least a year until the next series, so no rush.

Eh not really, if we're taking TOC as the source. The three are barely ever together in the book. They changed Radovid completely. Dijkstra had no input in the assassination. Jaskier isn't a babysitter. Stregobor full stop. There's more and more, I will say it's been somewhat closer to the overarching story of the book, but still not a good interpretation in my opinion.

Fair to say I won't be watching any further episodes after that tragedy of a season close out (last three episodes). Not sure any of it made sense, felt like I'd skipped three key episodes and the most boring anticlimax to any series I've ever watched. What a waste!!!

They had a potentially great thing.

But managed to make it crap.

Edit- and boring. Perhaps they want to make a show where people can read a book or scroll on their phones whilst watching.

My main complaint is I don't think they convey the world very well in terms of distance between places, where the different characters are in relation to one another etc. I can imagine it is challenging to follow if you're not familiar with the material. This season has felt pretty close to the books though so I'm not sure I buy the "Cavill saw the scripts and wanted out" arguments. It's clear they're much closer to the books this season than last.

Yes.
I mean they don't even put the place names up in text when they visit them. Drives me crazy. Didn't really understand where they were or who was who.

Anyway. My friend has said don't bother watching. As its descended into a mess. He said its like the writers can't handle the scope of the material they have to work with.

Think I will give it a miss as I struggled to follow not knowing any of the source material etc

The only thing I would say about the final three episodes is that it did (sort) of get back on the rails a bit with the books. But it was all rather rushed, Ciri in the desert then meeting up with the Rats occupies a considerable portion of the book. Milva just appears with no introduction or back story. I guessed it was probably her but had to wait for someone to state her name. It's a while since I read the books but I don't recall Yennefer going to Brokilon to finish Geralt healing.

And I have to agree with this. I eventually worked out one of the characters was Emir and that must be the Nilfgardian capital. But with a comlex story and narrative, which occasionally required a secnd pass in the books, you absolutely must keep the viewers informed who is who and where is where.

I thoroughly enjoyed this season, binged watched final three episodes and story has developed nicely.

Production this season also seemed a lot better than I remember from the past seasons.

Shame to see Cavill go, was excellent again this season. Thought they were going to change his appearance when they healed him, seemed like a good opportunity some sort of elixir or magic.

Given some of the ratings I see for films on these forums I suspect that is what people do....

bang average film 8/10

if they pay attention only to such a film it's more like a 6/10

I don't want background noise when I watch a movie etc, I want to be entertained

I dunno what all that was about but the storyline was a little confusing for me.

So it was coup within a coup within a coup. People let switching allegiance and doubling crossing .

Some positives but for me (non Witcher player) it felt a little rushed? Not sure how it be without Henry.

Watched all 8 episodes over last 3 days. Enjoyed the first 5, was actually hooked, last 3 were not as good that's for sure. The desert ep was definitely too long and the ending was predictable, all the hype now it's finally time for Ciri to own everyone, looking forward to it! :D.

Sad to see Cavill go as he makes the role but will definitely watch next season. I agree I wish there was more of him in this season.. they probably should have called the show a different name..

Like ROP.

Opportunity cost is something people don't talk about with these shows, it's not just that they made a huge piles of dung, they lost a chance to make something great. But... something something modern audiences... something something tell our own stories...etc

Sooo, did I miss where the Bard was gay/bi during the first 2 seasons, or was that just shoehorned in because 'reasons'?
Knew the archer girl was going to join, because you cant have 2 guys wander off on their own and not have a strong female character with them...

Did I miss the bit where the girl who was brainwashed into thinking she was Ciri that Geralt and his werewolf/witch friends were trying to cure escaped? As in how did she end up in Nilfgard to be presented as Ciri? Or was that not actually her and another one that looked like her and I'm just mixed up again.

I got completely lost at this point too.
