The worst ISP ever....?

i have a mate on tiscali and she says its been brilliant but i think generally you get what you pay for with broadband. I personally wouldnt touch them.

I used to work for an isp. the most complaints were mainly for aol and talk talk.

homecall use the tiscali network. was too expensive for Pipex to end the contract when they took them over.

Who mentioned Homecall?

There are people say Plusnet et al are wonderful too. Doesn't mean that the service is wonderful (for one, the biggest differentiation between ISPs is the quality of their customer service - and you don't know what it's like till you need them) or they wouldn't notice a massive improvement on a different ISP.

Doesn't mean all the issues with Tiscali and other low priced ISPs are unfounded nonsense though. Just because your connection's fine doesn't mean everyone else's is.

i only mentioned homecall as they use the tiscali network and as people were saying they werent very good i thought it may be relevant.

i used to be a fast24 customer before they went out of business. the broadband it self was excellent but i was never able to speak to anyone in customer service and they only ever replied to one of my emails.

Hello again guys.

If I was to ring Sky tomorrow, what should I say ?

I'd look like a bit of a plonker if I said "Argh my internet is slow, what can you do!?!"

I just did another speed test and I'm connect at 966.8 Kbps ....

This really is terrible... When I ring sky tomorrow and if they say it's how it is... I'll defo switch back to BT...

I'm trying to host my mates server... No wonder everyone who connects to it is dying of lag. -.-'

I wish people would stop spouting about Tiscali, its simply unfounded nonsense. If I were going to point fingers at an ISP for being awful it would be namesco, slowest connection ive ever used. Plusnet are second in line.

Quoted for sheer hilarity PMSL. :D :D

bwahahahahahahahahahahaha *BREATH* bwahahahahahahahaha..............

The sky connect package uses bt max services and as such can offer 8mb and 448kbs up.

so if you are not on llu you can still get speeds of upto 8mb. it just costs u more. but you will put onto mid package as soon as your exchange is made llu

unfounded ? Oh if only !

I set up my Dad's PC a while back when he was on Tiscali, by the time it'd done windows updates and downloaded a not unreasonable ammount of application updates and GPL/Freeware stuff (the biggest being open office) I was starting to think that perhaps my hatred of tiscali was misplaced - downloads were as fast as expected and it was all good. Till some 3 weeks later when they sent him an FUP letter. Up untill then his usage was probably under 100mb a month as all he does is browse ebay a few hours a week and the odd email.

If you're on a Sky LLU equipped exchange (and at £10 per month I think you are) you're probably going to have fun trying to migrate back to BT's IP Stream service. Sky probably have a minimum term as well :(

Speedwise I agree but I think they only offer the £5 and £10 deals when it's their own equipment. Unless they offer the discount to people they know are going to be LLU'd in the near future.

Eh? :p, It was my understanding that the £10 deal gets you on to either llu or adsl home if you can't get llu. It was like that when they first started the offers, and since then have added max on as well, but you have to pay more.

Ah right, I stand corrected so ignore me. I was basing that on them constantly offering me the £17 deal because I am not LLU'd but I've not heard from them for a while so it may have changed.

lol

my Tiscali has been fine for around 3 years now, all top notch speeds

on the other hand

sometimes it can be a bit slow..

THEY promised me 8mb internet 3 months ago, still isnt here. Customer service is awfull

Lookin to switch to Sky since i have the tv subscription

£10 or £17 a month for 16mb/8mb is tempting

Just rang them up explaining my problem.

Obviously I spoke to some one who I couldn't understand because of the strong accent she said.

Any ways, I've got to wait 2 - 5 days for there technical team to contact me.... -.-

Talk about good service ?
