The Worst Official Controller

Its quite annoying on Wii sports, mainly golf, when you trying to putt some short-ass distance and the wii remote redlines with the slightest movement!

n64..sucked. i hated it but i tried to get used to it for goldeneye although i never did.

ps1 sucked too, didnt feel good when holding.

gamecube is horrible pad..

best pad is obviously dreamcast, xbox and 360

Are you out of your mind? The N64 pad is the most important Peripheral ever made and all those that you've listed as good only happened as a consequence!

I loved the Dreamcast pad, but considering how many great beat'em'ups there were on it you were kinda forced to get an arcade stick, so a fail there.

Really?

Care to expand?

ive already posted a full explanation near the start of this thread, its not the actual controllers im miffed about but the way nintendo has used them, here i go again

you need a wii mote to play the console right £30 (more expensive than other consoles controllers)

oh wait did i forget to mention you need a nunchuk too £15

oh yeah if you wanna play any of our virtual games you cant use either of these controllers, you will need a classic controller £15

hold on we arent finished yet, if you wanna use the classic controller, you need to plug it into a wii mote controller, so it is half wired, half wireless, also this will run down the batteries in your wiimote because thats what its using as a transmitter, oh yeah we at nintendo dont believe in rechargeable controllers, you will need to buy your own batteries and chargers £15

you cant play and charge at the same time

the wii motes have a range at which they work well within, at my cousins house their couch is further back from their tv than it is at my house and when i took my console over to their house, the remotes wouldnt work, they were zagging all over the place, i figured out that we were too far back and had to move the couch forward about a foot, which meant having to move the extremely heavy marble table out the way, not exactly high quality equipment, but we are paying high quality prices for it

to sum everything up i have

4 x wii motes = £120
4 x nunchuks = £60
2 x classic controllers = £30
2 x recharcheable packs = £30

grand total of £240 which is £60 more than what the console is worth, this is a complete joke and daylight robbery how can they justify implementing such a poor controller system?

let me say it again its not the actual controllers im miffed about its the way nintendo have designed their system to use them, why cant they have made charge and play with their own battery packs? they would make money from selling battery packs, that would be a more viable option, why dont you get a nunchuk bundles with a wii mote? for £30 you should get both of them together? why cant you use the wii mote and nunchuk for the virtual games?? and have an option to buy the classic controller at your own will, if they had implemented this system look at how much the cost would be to the consumer.

4 x wii mote and nunchuk = £120
4 x battery packs = £20-£40

£140-£160 which makes it cheaper than the console and what it should be

you arent used to the game, when putting dont swing back as much, you need to use the controller as if you were playing golf in real life, i would say this is the most realistic game made so far, you just arent doing it right, ive managed hole in ones and everything, you just need to figure out that its exactly like playing real golf, you need to swing the mote back then forward, but when putting only slightly back and tap it

xbox 1 pad, dreamcast pad

the best i've used are ps2 and xbox360 (not used a dual shock 3 yet, so can't comment on that)

the ps2 pad is perfect for games like tony hawk, this is where the 360 pad is let down a bit imo, by not having L2 and R2 buttons (triggers instead), they should have L2 and R2, and triggers beneath them around the back

Bad software, obviously not hardware.

You can connect the Wiimote to a PC to see what readings it gives.

So purely a money thing then? That's fair enough :)

money is part of it, but have you read my post there are a lot of other problems, play and charge, rechargeable battery packs, having to connect classic controllers to wii motes, having to buy classic controllers, etc, etc

Can't make my mind up on the worse its either the

N64 which seem to be designed for someone with 3 hands as with only 2 you could never reach all the buttons.

PS1 which seems to always give me blister when playing games.

The Xbox controller was also just too big and i can only guess they had André the Giant as their chief tester.

I use a wavebird in place of the classic controller but it's nice to have the choice. I prefer rechargeable batteries so the battery pack issue doesn't affect me. I can see why they may be an issue but it still seems to boil down to money, which is a fair enough argument.

so the play and charge doesnt affest you either then i take it? nor does the annoying lead coming out the controller into the wii motes

I think it depends on what games you like to play the most.

For me the SNES and the Playstation controllers are good for footie, racing and first person shooters etc.

The Sega Saturn and the Megadrive v.2 controller with 6 button and 2 shoulder button was best for fighting games from Capcom, SNK.

The worst controller from my personal experience of playing mostly footie, fighting and shooting games are;

Xbox / Xbox 360
GameCube
Nintendo 64

After playing Virtua Fighter 5 for an hour my hand hurts and I can't see myself playing Street Fighter IV with the Xbox 360 controller at all!!

I wish someone would make Sega Saturn controller for the Xbox 360.

Wasn't there an horrible pad made for the American Atari 7600? It was long had a joystick at the top and the action buttons were on the left and the right side of the controller making it difficult to hold while playing.

The Wii remote and anything Wii related. Revolutionary? Yes. Any good whatsoever? Hell no.

Also, the PS3 pad is too far past its prime now. It feels far too light and flimsy and was designed for small hands.

Ill update my choice from the ps2 pad to any ps3 pad, some how sony have managed to make dead zones with the analogue stick's worse.

While the dual shock 2 was never as good as the xbox/game cube controller, it at least felt well built, their new pad just fell’s cheap.
