The Wow Factor But Confused

If calibration didn't help then, your display must not support rgb full. When calibrate contrast the higher you get get it the better. Pc range is 0-255 so any details in the highest part is fine.

You might be right.

It's fairly modern (2012) so I assumed it would. Unless it's also a setting I need to change on the TV....Though Auto should detect it via the HDMI.

Found this on a Forum:

The Panasonic flagship (VT50) DOES indeed support RGB Full (0-255). There is an "HDMI/DVI RGB Range" setting that has "Standard" (16-235) and "Non-Standard" (0-255) as well as "Auto". As per my first post, after the software upgrade and the start of the "black crush" issue, changing to "Non-Standard (0-255)" did seem to mostly correct the issue. It certainly fixed the "black crush", but at the time I felt it also introduced an new error in that most of the brighter colors became washed out, and I wasn't happy. But in retrospect, it may just have been my adjustments to fix the "black crush" that may have impacted the picture when "corrected" to RGB 0-255.

Most TV only accept video levels that is 16-235, pc monitors accept pc levels of 0-255
Does your TV have pc mode? This will be a give away that it supports full RGB, it should also have a rgb setting, to enable limited or full.
