I would argue, and this is just me, that talent is the name of the game as in the ability to sing. After all, a recording contract is the prize.

Miss Frank are average singers at best. Danyl has an excellent voice. John and Edward can't sing a note.

Simon Cowell hates John & Edward and voters play on that as a protest perhaps and that combined with the kiddy vote results in the farcical situation where utter crap gets through to the latter stages and an extremely gifted singer scrapes through.

Maybe it is because I have played in live bands since I was about 14 that has me in this mindset ? Talent should win the day.

It's the way it works. The mediocre acts go first, then the ones that are their mainly as entertainment value (whether that be lively, cute etc), then the last couple will have real talent and 1 of them will win
