You have to bear in mind that she is still a child and she will make petulant remarks like that. I'm sure in 5-10 years, she would cringe if she is reminded of that comment.

Unfortunately, there is a limit to what Cheryl can do for. Cowell is the guy who can make her, if he decides to.

In 5-10 years nobody will know who she is to remind her of that comment :D

Tbh I'm fed up with all this 'she's only 17' crap.
There are loads of more mature children than her that are younger than her.
Age is being used to protect her a little, well, she isn't 10 years old, she is old enough to know and act a lot better.

Was left a bit underwhelmed by the performances last night. Matt wasn't as good as he normally is and generally, had I not been drinking, would have probably turned it off and gone to bed. :D

Glad Cher went and hopefully now we can slowly see the overrated cheeky git slip away into obscurity. I'm probably wrong though, given how much Cowell seems to like her.

That said, one positive, without question. Rihanna. Yes please.

The guys from 1 Direction are about the same age.

When you compare them to Cher, she seems A LOT more mature than those guys.

Age is definitely a BIG factor here. You cannot expect a 17 year old to be as tactful and diplomatic as a 25 or 30 year old, say. I'm sure a lot of us remember what we were like at the age of 17 and we certainly weren't appearing an a huge show like XFactor having everything we say printed in a national newspaper.

Most of us are taking her with a pinch of salt. :p

I'd like to take her with a sock full of snooker balls.

I've no doubt we will be lumbered with her makeup plastered face for several years to come though, especially as Simon Cowell seems so desperate to break her in to the music industry (or at the very least he seems desperate to break her in :) )

There are plenty of teenage stars who are more famous and have to deal with a lot more, age in this case means nothing.

Age is not a defence.

Like who? Please give me some names.

J.Bieber's popularity sky-rocketed fairly quickly. However, his popularity didnt happen over a period of a few weeks, so he had time to get used to it and mentally adapt to the adulation. He was popular on youtube, long before he released his first single.

You also had the kids from the Harry Potter movies. Before the film was even released, they would've had plenty of training to deal with the press. The same goes for child movie stars, who in most cases are guided by their parents/minders, during interviews.

With XFactor, you have a child (Cher), who is interviewed, without any assistance and she says childish things. This comes as no suprise to me.

I would be interested to know of any other child stars, who have presented themselves in a mature manner and have had to deal with more. XFactor is the biggest show on the UK. The amount of tabloid column inches dedicated to Cher Lloyd is likely to be greater than any other child/teenage star, in this country.

Not for long they will not. The tabloids and the public are fickle, she will soon fade back into the mediocrity from whence she came.

Yep.

But her poor comment about Danni and Louis, was made during the peak of her stardom (ie. during the last week).

Anyway, enough about Cher...she's gone (for the time being).

Any predictions for tonight's show?
Mine:

Matt Cardle
One Direction
Rebecca

One Direction have an amazing following it seems. And it is quite possible that they may win this, if only because of the screaming schoolgirls.

I'm not sure, the winner should be in my opinion Matt, but given the txting habits of tweenie girls One Direction may just pip it even if they are no way near as talented as either Matt or Rebecca.

lol, Surfin' Bird is being played at #9 right now on The Big Top 40 Show, which is based on daily download figures on iTunes.

wow! they didn't even play the whole song! After like 30 secs blokes voice said "I think we've had enough of that" and put on Olly Murs / Dodgy ( ;) )

Haha I got an email back from I'm guessing is the show's producer after I emailed saying it's a disgrace they didn't play the song until half way never mind fully.

And Steve Higgins said...

"We'll be playing it lots next week."

Brilliant, haha :D
