***The X-Factor Thread - ALL X-Factor Related Stuff In Here***

The judges simply won't let Katie go. Clearly a deal has already been done and the judges are doing their best to ensure Katie gets as much exposure as possible, before getting the boot. Once she leaves, you can almost guarantee that she will be releasing some music, at some point.

I think most would agree - but when she's selling, who's going to be buying given her incredibly weak support from the voting public?

I think it's more likely they're in the process of constructing a final Cher will win if there really is anything to all this.

To be honest, there probably isn't anything to it.

Millions of people around the world watch WWE even though it is fake and all pre planned. So what?

Millions of people watch Coronation Street even though it's fake and pre-planned.

The difference is that people are being told they can influence the outcome of the X-Factor, where in fact it's becoming perfectly clear that they can't.

Again, that is voters. The person I'm quoting is talking about viewers, of which there are no doubt millions who watch but not vote.

Rumour has it, apparently from dermot himself, that the no vote was rehearsed and Treyc had lots more public support compared to Katie.

So you're trying to tell me the phone company is rigging the votes?
You're telling me that all those staff involved in the phone lines are keeping their mouths shut?
If this gets out it will be massive.

Not only that, but this kind of stuff is usually audited by an independent firm?

Heh! Like all those other phone-in shows which got caught out. All systems are open to abuse and exploitation.
However, I would like to add that I don't think there's a conspiracy of any kind with the x-factor. Just wanted to make the point about auditors.

I think influence can be used to direct a show (e.g. I saw a clip of Cher being interviewed when she was queueing up before the first auditions and here she is in the last few, I mean what are the odds of that!!).

The producers have to keep it interesting, but not to the lengths some people are describing.

Cheryl knew Katie and Treyc were in the bottom 2 even before they all came out on the stage before the announcement. Just look at her face. She looked annoyed and gutted.

She knew what she was doing when she refused to vote.

She/they knew Katie would be bottom of the viewers vote. If Treyc was bottom they'd have gone to deadlock.

It was all contrived and really distasteful television.

All 'in my opinion' of course!

Just about confirms what I said on my post the other day. Not surprising at all and it didn't take a genius to suspect something was a bit fishy! :)

Sun story.

Mail story.

Ex Factor: TV sources confirmed Miss Cohen had received three times as many votes as Miss Waissel in the public vote

Some interesting thinks coming from those.

"My producer said, 'Look, if Cheryl decides to opt out we go to majority vote'.

"She did decide to opt out - and then she said, 'Come back to me and we'll do deadlock'."

Dermot defended not letting her put Katie's fate in the hands of the public by saying: "You can't do that because then it kind of devalues the other two judges' votes so that wouldn't have made sense."

Even though they said straight after that the rulebook dictates what happens, it was the producer who actually made the decision.

Whats with Dermot? it would devalue the other 2s vote? what a rubbish argument. The bottom 2 were decided by a public vote, its gone to deadlock before and they didnt complain it devalued their opinions. Their drivel is getting more and more embarassing.

Completely, deadlock is a normal thing and it would be where the vote was going if they went to cheryl last anyway.

I don't see why the judges get a vote on who stays anyway. Obviously it adds to the drama etc but it'd be much fairer if it was just left to the public to decide, just like with big brother etc.

That leaves it open to abuse though. The idea of judges choosing from the bottom 2 is to stop the worst person going through........

Big brother is different as only a couple of people are voted for and big brother do not try to make money from the winner of the show, unlike x factor

The whole sing off thing is what's stupid, as sometimes they won't base their vote on it, so why bother?

They keep telling us that the sing off is about wiping the slate clean and whoever sings better there and then stays in.
Fluffing her words and then saying "sod it" and sitting down must surely be the ultimate no no on stage in the music business.

This coming Saturday should be very interesting indeed.

The sing off is pointless imo, half the time the judges say "I'm going to base it on this performance only" and the rest of the time they say some other garbage like "I'm going to base it on who I think the public want to see more" or "who I think could go further in the competition"
