***The X-Factor Thread - ALL X-Factor Related Stuff In Here***

The quality isnt there at all this year IMO. Apart from a couple of acts I think they are really struggling!

How can people like cher's performance?
You couldn't hear her, just backing singers and her facial expressions were a horrible, again.

I actually liked her song choice, more than her today.

But I still remember her first ever audition and that was awesome. I've heard Keri Hilson's version and Cher's version was better. I don't think I've ever said that about any contestant.

Her vocals are not on the calibre of the painter/decorator, but her overall performance was probably the best. She commanded the stage today in a way that no other contestant was able to.

If it's ballads you are after, Cher is not going to ever tickle your fancy, but if you like something more contemporary and modern, then Cher will definitely do well. She will definitely be able to sell records.

How is it contemporary and modern? Because she did a little rap in it, or should I say attempted to and instead talked out of tune. She will appeal to the young girls who aspire to be like her so will go far.

This is the first year that I have got into X-factor and so far its not much more than Karaoke standard, at least Wagner was up for a laugh and tried to entertain.

Having never watched it before (was on in the pub tonight), I have to say I was really surprised. Half of the so called finalists actually cannot sing, at all. Has it become a parody of itself or something?

The Bill Baily/Ron Jeremy looking one is awful, as are the five Biebers and Cherlys Mini Me.

Cher looks like Cheryl would if her head was shrunk and if she was also a crystal meth addict to boot.

The X-Factor is like Moyles' show. Old, tired, drawn and should be flushed to give people who like decent TV and dislike an influx of z list celebrities that the media report on every time they take a dump.

Louis I just want to strangle with my bare hands. Dannii is so far up her own arse that it defies belief although does deflect the fact she has little to no talent herself. Cheryl, I have gone from liking to not liking in the last year as her doe eyed approach when saying someone isn't good is cringeworthy. She is also more orange than an orange on an orange tree in Orange County.

Simon, he has a heed like a breeze block and even he looks bored with the shower that is this years contestants.

What a bizarre show last night, one of my friends said it was like watching Eurovision and I agree with her..

My general thoughts..

F.Y.D - Ok singers, good dancers but so boring
Matt - Good voice but awful song choice
John - Good voice but had Louis written all over him, awful song choice
Rebecca - Great voice but nervous and wooden
Storm - Laughable outfit but I actually enjoyed this
Belle Amie - Lovely outfits.. thats about it :p
Cher - Really good... redeemed herself
Diva Fever - Fast forwarded
Paije - Awesome song for him, enjoyed it
Katie - C'mon, Freddie Mercury? Her voice is weak but Cheryl's fault as the song showed her up
Mary - Started well but she just shouted most of it
Nicolo - Laughably bad song
One Direction - Enjoyed it, they weren't trying too hard like all the others. Easily best group
Wagner - Fast forwarded after the first chorus
Aiden - Best of the night
Treyc - Close second

What happened to having a couple of weak/comedy acts amongst loads of good acts, this time it's the other way round.

Well, they only need 1-2 good acts. Usually, the top 2 acts are those which are marketed and end up selling records. All the other acts end up vanishing without a trace.

I believe that this year there are 4-5 good acts which could potentially make the final and end up in the top 2.

I think Diva Fever are this year's Jedward. I actually liked their song yesterday, though I feel anybody could've sang it and it would've sounded great.

Cher and the painter/decorator are my faves.

Aiden, TreyC and Paije were great. Really thought they had a great song choice on put their own stamp on it. Aiden as my fave, really didnt like him that much before the live shows but it was a great performance, looked like he was acting the part rather than nerves, it fitted in well with the song.

The little boyband was the cheesiest thing ive seen in a long time, the head bobbing and false grins really made me queezy. wasnt a bad performance but was just the most manufactured thing ive seen in a long time.

Wagner at least embraced the fun. It was a poor song choice (I think meatloaf or something would at least have some credibility - he does have a decent operatic thing going as per his audition). It was fun but it wasnt good singing.

Both Cher and Katie.... really didnt like it. Style over substance? Dress them up and make it flashy so nobody realises they cant really sing that well. Katie at least has a decent voice but its not strong enough. Cher just gurns all over the stage trying to 'rap'. Really hope they dont get far but no matter how bad their performances are, I can see the judges saving their pet projects.

It's all about what/who Cowell believes will make money for him and his company. That really is the bottom line.

Remember all those years ago when they had a nightmare scenario of an obese man (Rick Waller) winning the show, with arguably the best voices any talent show has ever come across. This guy could not be marketed and would've been a total waste of money to invest in. Result: they got rid of him under mysterious circumstances. In his place, they brought in Darius, who was eminently marketable and would have no problems boosting the ratings of the show and selling records if he won (he ended up having a No.1 single and No.1 album, while Waller released a song and album which finished no where...Cowell was right).

Cher would be much more likeable as a performer if she didnt insist on continually pulling faces like she is trying to squeeze out a particularly large and solid turd during her songs. I've no idea if she thinks it looks good, or if it looks rebellious, "attitude" and "street" , or whether she simply has a lot of pent up aggression, whatever it is if you pause her during her singing she looks like a stroke victim.
