***The X-Factor Thread - ALL X-Factor Related Stuff In Here***

The Xfactor group song was a mime fest, Cheryl song was a mime fest.

Cher needs snipering from the crowed.

Was shocked that John and Treyc were called

Was expecting

Katie - Wagner(Vagner)

Meh oh well

a lot of a mime fest for everyone

I thought Katie did a lot better this week. Still very annoying though, she needs to stop talking. Mary is getting a bit dull now.

I've recently started to notice mic-hand spasms from some singers.

Belle Amie, Cher, loads do it, even Cheryl did it last night.

They flare up their 3 bottom fingers whilst holding the mic, but with no apparent reason. It's not in time with the beat, melody or lyrics of whatever they are singing. What gives?

In Chers case, given that she has less control over her face than a parkinsons sufferer it wouldnt surprise me at all if her fingers spasmed about.

o.O .... WTH WAGNER????????

Oh wow, I only just started watching the clips on youtube, but like seriously ....

WAGNER HAS TO WIN THIS YEAR, OMG!!!!!

My jaw pretty much hit the floor throughout in complete shock and awe when I saw his performances.

Actually, Rebecca is my favorite, she reminds me of Michelle Williams, but with a much more powerful voice.

did cheryl really mime? i watched her performance on youtube and it seemed real. i could hardly hear her, but still think she sang.

matt 2 win btw.

My feeling is that she pre-recorded the song, but in a rough and ready way, to make it sound like a live performance. Its obvious that she didn't mime to the single (studio) version, but I did detect a lot of miming going on. The main reason I think for her miming would've been her vigorous dance moves, which would've ruined the song as she would've been breathing heavily (due to the dancing).

Pretty sure the papers were reporting this exact thing this morning.

I really couldn't care less if she was miming. The whole show is purely entertainment, not a serious contest.

For the most part she mimed. For a less demanding part of the song, her mic was actually turned on and she sang a few notes live.

Also, it was recorded an hour before the live show apparently. It was very clever how they edited it all though.

It was pretty obvious Buble and Cole both mimed. She never had the mic away from her mouth and very rarely were there any close ups. On the other hand Buble had his mic anywhere from 2" to 2' away from his mouth and it all sounded the same.

There's a bit of a Wagner bandwagon growing online. Also, a few papers have mentioned a Facebook campaign for him to win.

Bookies are running scared and have slashed their odds on Wagner to win. Good news as I've backed him at enormous prices! :D

I remember, years ago, the public did this for Rick Waller, on Pop Idol. Rick Waller had a great voice (one of the best I've ever heard), but was unbelievably obese. He was not marketable. The producers knew this. They were also worried that he could win the show. To avoid this situation, they booted him off the show with some cover story (he was never voted off by the public).

Wagner had better be careful that he is not booted off the show, under mysterious circumstances.

Rik Waller wasnt mysteriously booted off. He appeared on the first live final of Pop Idol, but was unable to sing or speak with a throat problem so got a free pass to week 2. However, the second week, he still hadnt recovered so they replaced him with Darius.

Oh, wow, LOL:

You're sat there listening to some intentionally poorly recorded song and watching people dance. Top, top entertainment.

In a nutshell, that's correct. In fact, the vocals were intentionally badly recorded, in order to fool the audience. This is a twisted/crazy situation, created due to the fact that Cheryl does not trust her own voice, in a live performance.

LOL

I would've loved to have heard the conversation that took place when they decided not to sing live:

Cowell: So Cheryl, do you want to sing live.
Cheryl: I'm not sure. I don't think I can sing and dance at the same time.
Cowell: Why don't you just sing and let the dancers around you do the dancing.
Cheryl: Erm, I don't think I can sing properly, even when standing still.
Cowell: OK. In that case you will have to mime.
Cheryl: But what will the audience think of me? I can't sit here, judging people for their live performances if I can't sing live myself?
Cowell: OK. How about we pre-record your vocals, poorly, so that on the day of your performance, we can fool the audience into believing that the performance is really live, as shown by the poor vocals.
Cheryl: That could work!
