I'll bite... whats wrong with them? :p

Nothing. I was deadly serious.

I am a student, I drive 5 miles into Uni, in the centre of town, where I need to park on street in often tight spaces. I rarely do long trips now and weeks will pass without me exceeding 50mph. Something small, easy to park and cheap to buy is the ideal car for me.

But thats just boring, so I chose a 155mph, 1600kg, 4.7 metre long Autobahn cruiser instead. Hell yea

'A bit of air' in a Hyundai Pony?

Did you die?

To be honest it probably didn't even get off the ground just enough to make the front tyres lose traction :p Still bottomed out as it came over the crest though :o

Your crap at lying. :p

A 1.0 would be far better at economy then a Diesel.

I guess I may as well post up my small car history.

I bought my first car for £400 a full 6 months before I had my license, and I never drove it, couldn't afford to then get it T&Ted, so it sat out the back of the house getting worse and worse. Finally I passed and had the money to sort it out in Sept '04, and after about a month of it being fiddled with it was working and on the road.
This was my Renault 5 Campus, a whopping 1.1L of French power in a half sized tincan, which was a large amount considering what most of my friends had.
I drove it hard for about 6 months and then drove it too hard and wrote it off.

I only have post-crash photos of it, and they don't show off the glory of what I did due to the recovery truck pulling it back to shape a bit.
Basically I went too fast round a corner, lost it, tried to correct, overcompensated and took it up a hedge and made it flick back onto it's roof, landing on my side, smacking my head against the 'liner' (cardboard basically) and the rather hard road. Only suffered a large bruise, anyhooo, when it was put on the back of the lorry they put a rope through the front windows and that pulled the roof back out to shape...by about a foot!

I was shaken, but wanted to get back into the driver's seat as soon as after that, so two weeks and £700 later I bought this...
3062.jpg

A Peugeot 306 XLd with 186k which wasn't that bad to insure for an 18 year old which surprised me. I loved the car, it had space in it, could maintain 70mph on almost all roads (not quite all, no turbo made it slow).
It was really chuckable once I'd done this to it...
306.jpg

Pug306.jpg

(Put 205 1.9 GTi alloys on it)

I kept that for a year and a half, and put it up to 206k. at or around the 200k mark I was constantly pushing the engine far too much and when I pulled into work one day I noticed someone's car was leaking coolant, I then realised it was my car leaking coolant.
Once towed home I checked it out, and I'd warped the head and probably blown the HG (not that it mattered).
So I (yes me personally) did this...

Ripped the engine out and put in one with 117k on the clock. The car is now still going strong, but my brother has it, as I thought that it would cost too much to keep/run, and so swapped it for a Peugeot 205 XR with 1360ccs of French power! I now realise that in fact the D306 was a much better car to have whilst at uni for my 2nd year, anyway, pic...

And that's where I currently am, although I am looking for my next toy.

No Pic's, but my history is as follows.

Been Driving 2 Years, passed when I was 20 so insurance wasn't too much of an issue.

Started off with a free (From Family Friend) K Plate 1.3 Ford Escort, it was great. No PAS, no Electric Windows, the brakes hardly worked, but I was free!!

2 Weeks later, the exhuast fell off in a car park..oh dear :(
2 Weeks after that I crashed into a corsa on a mini-roundabout, my fault...oops :(

So no car for a week, then for a massive £200 I found a 1.6 16v N Reg Ford Escort, that my insurance company thought was a Ford Orion. This car was amazing, didn't ever do anything to it, didn't even check the oil.

5 Months later (MOT Time). The exhuast had mostly come off this car (damn speedbumps), and the windcreen washer pump had gone. I couldn't be bothered to fix it up for the MOT, so I got shot of it, and bought...

A J Reg Proton 1.5 Auto, this is actually the ugliest car ever made, but I endured for 6 months, when the Bonnet then wouldn't shut, and I couldn't do more than 40 mph, or it would fly up.

So got rid of this as well.
Then things started going badly, I bought myself a cheap 320i E30 (£450) it had 180,000 miles on the clock, and a massive rust hole under the driver's door (it did have a multi-disc changer in the boot though) although it had JUST 'passed' an MOT.

This lasted 3 moths, and the engine gave out...darn.
I then got a 1.4 J Reg Astra, this was stolen 6 days after I bought it...**** :(

Rental car for 2 weeks, 1.1 Mitsubishi Colt

Didn't have money for a car, so bus for 6 weeks, got really sick of this, so i got myself a K reg Honda CG125, great little bike. Rode that for 4 months. (Still have it, don't use it).

I now have a £300 Audi 80E 2.0, on which the rotary arm has already gone (thank you AA) and I expect it will explode sometime soon :p

2001 Clio
2001 Accord Sport
1999 Accord Type-R
2001 Accord Type-R

Will dig out some photos when I'm back in from work. Its weird I bought the first type-r when at uni and it cost me an arm in a leg in fuel. Now that I've finished Uni and actually got some money, I get the train to work so I hardly ever drive. My last tank of fuel lasted 5 weeks!

Then:

Owned it for 5.5years and sold it about a year ago. Was a great car, reliable quick and went well around corners. Plus it was pretty practical and would get 35mpg on a run. Kind of miss it sometimes as it was good fun and I didn't care too much about it when I parked it anywhere.
Gradually tuned and tweaked it the longer I owned it and it have about 270hp when I moved out and got something that I didn't need to fiddle with.

Brakes were also upgraded by me to cope with the power :

Now:
DSC00135.jpg

Owned about 17 months now. Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with it and I have done about 17k miles in it. Great car for A roads and empty B roads, engine is fantastic. Bit of a pain on motorways due to it being noisy (exhaust drone and cloth roof) and also it can't fit a pair of shoes in the boot :p Nah boot is a bit small for when I jot up and down the M40.

Er thats about it. May get something crap as I have just moved house and have to park on the street. Although I have noticed a Z4 and another s2000 that do the same so can't be too bad.

Neil.

The list of shame

1 - a C reg ford fiesta (in 1995)
2 - a brief hiatus when I got around on a MTB
3 - a H reg Ford fiesta (in 2001)
4 - a G reg astra (for only 2 weeks, had to start it with a screw driver)
5 - a P reg Nissan Almera (not long for this world :()
6 - something I'm not ashamed of :D

every one of these cars has been scrapped after I owned it, bar the almera which still goes. I am the end of the line

No pictures at the moment but list as follows (I actually owned four of them at the same time!!)

1 - D-Reg Mini CityE
I only ever drove this about 2 miles, the rest of the time it was a tinker toy. It was rotten as ****
2 - N-reg Peugeot 306 1.4XL
My first proper car - a steaming 75bhp and 0-60 in a decade. Drove it for about 10 months then wanted something a little faster
3 - '01-reg Honda Civic 1.4SE
The wifeys car (still owned today). It is actually quicker than my old 1.4Pug which is mighty impressive for something that can only be described as a floating barge with wheels.
4 - J-Reg Citroen ZX Volcane 1.9i
This was incredibly fun to drive.. Same engine / suspension set-up as the 309GTi - I eventually scrapped / broke it for spares after the HG died. Owned for 6 months
5 - K-Reg Citroen ZX Volcane 2.0i
Essentially the same car as # 3 but with a lower powered (more emissions friendly) 2.0 engine. Not as chuckable as the 1.9i, but still fun. Eventually sold as it was falling to bits (replaced within 7 months I think)
6 - M-Reg Toyota MR2 GTi-16
My current and daily drive - much quicker my previous cars and despite beig younger than some of them it's in a MUCH better condition. Currently powered by a 2.0i 16V engine running at 177bhp on the rollers but watch this space ;)

When i passed my test in 2003 i bought and modified this:

Mitsubishi Colt GLXI 1.6 - 115BHP
1014524451a4786537342l.jpg

I owned that for 2 years and in 2005 i bought this:

Ford Escort RS Turbo 1.6 - 250 BHP / 282 LBFT @ 28PSI

1014524451a1987204098b730566785l.jpg

After stupidly selling my beloved turbo i bought this:

Honda Civic VTI-S - 170 BHP

1014524451a4205050005b669261682l.jpg

Sold that due to engine problems, and now im currently driving this:

Volkswagen Golf VR6 - 180 BHP

After having the 206 for 2 years I gave it to Amanda (who still has it now) and bought my loony van. I'm still loving it and it's bringing me much joy as a car enthusiast. Here's how I stand, same girl, different car.

Rayrigg Road viewpoint, just outside Bowness and Windermere, Cumbria!

Edit: Can I ask what the registration of your Punto was? I have a 1998 Punto_S 60, red, same interior, same wheel trims, with evidence of the bonnet being painted.
