There is a guy using a hose pipe in his garden

So if you could prove it doesnt use any more water they wouldnt have a case.
Seems so many holes in it, be interesting to see if and what for, people have been fined over it.

That's a good point, what if the only bucket you have has got a hole it in and therefore uses more water than using a hose?

Seems a load of rubbish to me.
If it was that bad, why do they not tell people to reduce flushing toilets, wash clothes less, have a wash not a bath or shower.
We have an allotment be damned if we would ever listen to a hose pipe ban.

What if you used a hosepipe like a bucket ie fill it and disconnect then empty the water on the lawn.

Nothing happens, a bucket is not against the law, holes or not. Water usage doesn't come into it. There's n line in the law going:

Exception:
16.
B) uses less water than alternative

It is what it is, like most laws it's badly written.

Seriously, if we had a hosepipe ban here.. all id do is run my taps all day, everyday constantly.

I pay for the flipping stuff, so why should a company whom I pay tell me when, what and where I can use it.

Screw the world, it wont end while your alive so abuse it as much as you can.. thats life.

I've just been filling up buckets and watering the lawn with those lately, which is a right pain.

How about the water firms fix the ****** leaks, then we'd maybe not have the need for a hosepipe ban!

Whilst I salute your Eff 'em attitude, water bans aren't to do with the long term maintenance of the planet, it's about the amount of water available to use now.

Water isn't like oil and being tapped from a finite well.

I remember spending a lot of time just outside Maidstone in Kent at my Aunts as a child for summer holidays, normally always hot and dry and hosepipe ban. They had a fair amount of grounds with buildings and water tanks collecting from the gutters, somehow gave it pressure somewhere for hose to work in the garden. The amount of times hot air balloons would appear low over the treeline of the garden accompanied with the shouting of "oi, there's a hosepipe ban" was comical as a child. My cousin and I would chase them across the paddock shouting back it was rain water and waving frantically. :D

Not sure if anyone ever came to the door about it. Doubt it. :)

And you would be the first to complain when the resevoirs run dry. See all this lovely dry weather we are having?

yes that would be comical to me too

Well once again I filled little ones paddling pool and watered my lawn and plants using a hosepipe. I also cleaned my windows with the same. Who's going to fine me?

I wouldn't report someone, i live in a van area, I had a dirty car at the weekend.. Is it dirty now?... Hmm

I would complain as i pay for water as a service and its my right as a human to have it. End of the day, its free from the sky...

Anyway if the water company runs out, ill buy the bottled stuff from Tesco...

contaminate his water tank with anthrax ? ......... that will learn him to waste the precious fluids...........................
