There's a bug wandering round in my TFT!

Went to a small LAN at a friends yesterday which was in the middle of "THE countryside" and had about 5 in

Lucky most of them decided to wander out but i ended up with one dead in there which annoyed me.

I might have found a solution though, i got home and it had gone so i guess the shaking around in the back of the car shook it down so it fell out :)

last night had three cornflies running up the inside of my LCD...gota admit...im mightily overjoyed:mad: . Guess I had better just hope they die and fall or I will be sending back to viewsonic thinking its dead pixels!

I have a dead one thats made it's grave in the middle of the screen. NOW i have a new one crawling about

Gonna email Samsung.

i had the same problem luckily after about 2 hours of it roaming around inside my tft it died and has fallen to the bottom of the screen so is no longer visable, for stuck dead ones try flicking it gently it worked for me

Just got 2 in my NEC 20WGX2 which is brand new, less then a month old! :(

There both dead ill be calling NEC to see what they say.

There both between the film and the backlight. Even if they dont cover bugs, it should come under dead pixals. Each bug takes up about 8 pixals in 1 block. One of them takes up about 12 because he is diagonal.

My NEC is the best bit of PC kit I own, so if I get any little bugs in mine I wont be best pleased. Its the first TFT I have had the pleasure of using which to me is pretty much faultless.

I just recieved an email from Samsung basically saying that it is not a monitor defect and they will do nothing to help me and that i will have to pay to get them removed.

I am pretty annoyed that i paid £250 for this monitor and bugs are able to get in there and are now dead and ruining the screen blocking the pixels

Don't be annoyed at the manufacturer. Do you send your PC back when woodlice crawl inside? Or if your monitor was damaged by your cat? These monitors need to have holes for ventilation, and there is nothing that the manufacturers can really do about insects. :)

I would suggest some of the "gentle shaking" or "gentle massage" to shake the flies out of sight. Wait a few days after they stop wriggling as you will want to ideally have a dried out carcus to move around. Last thing you want to do is squish the fly between the layers. ;)

If the fly is alive, try messing around with the screen colours and persuade the fly to walk "towards the light". They are attracted to white light, so give it a window to walk over and black to it's back. (There is a video somewhere of a guy who traps a storm fly within a black biro line... so they are pretty daft animals)

They are dead, won't move as i've tried all that lol.

I'm just annoyed as i've never had the problem before, and i would have thought this couldn't happen, but oh well :(

I've got one of those dead flies/thunderbugs, lying dead in my Samsung. I've read on a couple of newsgroupds that both Philips and ViewSonic replace the monitor under warranty due to a defective seal.?

I've contacted Samsung asking what thier 'policy' is.

they do die and stick there... they dont fall to the bottom.

Holy thread revival! :D

I did a search and after reading this thread I "flicked at the screen" near the two dead bugs in my screen and luckily they dropped out of sight!

Anyone else with dead bugs in the screen, it's probably best to leave them for a few days to see if they fall themselves, as you wouldn't want to flick at the screen and have them squashed there permanently!

No holes I don't think.
It's all enclosed except the circuitry outside the light tube.
+ they probably get so hot, flies die before getting near it :p

MC_Bob

Isn't it something to do with pressures on the LCD monitors or something...? They have to have the holes somewhere otherwise they'd implode. (well...that's the best word I could think of at the time)

I had this happen on my old screen, fortunately it buggered off before it died.

Go into paint and draw it a little maze, i done it and it stayed where the screen was white :p

This could be the final reason I need to upgrade my aging CRT. What's the best screen for making bug mazes ? I've been looking at the Del 2408wfp, think I should wait for the updated version ?
Given the proximity of the bug to panel I guess viewing angle will be a critical factor, do you think VA is sufficient ?
Also need to figure heat into the equation, don't want the little bug..er to expire prematurely.

... I was having a bit of down day, this thread made me smile. Thank you str for the revival :)

Ive had about 4 lcd screens over the years and never had a bug inside them but last week got one in my 3 month old 24" benq which i cant seem to shift, irritating.
