We found the people who had lost their cat and it isn't theirs. So I just let it back out again. Excitement over but here's a picture to make the thread worthwhile

As above, looks like a Bengal (I've had two) and wil almost certainly be chipped. You might even be able to feel it, at the base of the ear is a common spot.

Possible reasons for not having a collar -
1) It's an indoor cat and doesn't wear one
2) It had one and it's come off. Cat collars are not like dog collars, they are usually designed to unclip if they get caught in something which they often do. Owner is probably frantic as most Bengals are indoor cats and they are generally lacking in road sense.

Get it scanned.

As other have said, it's a Bengal. It should not be outside, it will almost definitely be chipped (from the breeders usually).

Take it to your local vets please!

Yeah take it to the vets mate :)
If you've already let it out it'll likely be hovering around the area, dump some food in a bowl and when it comes back inform the vets.

Someone migh'tve spent a fair chunk of money on him/her

yup, I found a bengal cat stuck in my tree once and a few days later I replied to a lost cat poster on a lamp post. Turned out it belonged to someone who lived on the street behind me.

I told him if he can prove it's his he can have it back. Low and behold he turned up with certificates, pictures and scanner. Cat and owner were re-united. :D

really worry about my cats when reading threads like this

they roam the streets constantly with no troubles at all but now ive got worry about internet people locking them indoors , taking them to local vets and sticking collars on them.
