Think you can hide on Farcebook? Not any more.

So anyone can find my timeline now, even if they are complete randoms?

No,
They can search for your name. And see anything you have public.

Where before you could select a setting that hid you from a search, meaning if someone searched for your name, you wouldnt show up.

So if you have nothing public, they can see this

Once had a boss who mentioned something about one of my photos from the weekend, found it a bit strange he'd been stalking me in his private time

They can also contact you. Don't know about you but I hate the concept of randoms contacting me, or people I was specifically avoiding.

what ever you do don't go on a forum, they're full of literally thousands of randoms who can ALL contact you!!

but if you're so concerned why do you have your email address public on here?

http://pmx2.krose.org/ is a weird website.

Oh noes, they can send you a friends request, once. Then you can block them.

The lackadaisical attitude towards our invasion of privacy is very much a case of "and then they came for the.... and then they came for the...". It's just a slow, steady clawing back of everything we hold private and people are too lazy to care, or they make up excuses as to why it's all right.

As far as I'm concerned this was the last straw. And now there's graph search.

This won't be the last of it either.

No, its nothing like that at all.
What privacy is being invaded, they cant contact you by email or phone etc. all they can do is send you a friends request with a message, and even that you can block after the first time.

They cant see anything apart from your name and friends, unless you have it public

Exactly, like most things its about taking reasonable precautions - such as not having your profile public, restricting what you share and with who etc.

oh gods they're going to think i'm a Parkinsons sufferer, i constantly move my cursor in small circles and click constantly on nothing (like 1-2 times a second) so **** knows what they'll think will happen.

That mouse tracking thing is probably to serve adverts more efficiently. So if you like tickling your friend's boob with your mouse pointer they will probably plaster an ad over it.

I would suggest you also back away from this forum because I can contact you through here unless you gave a false email address to OCUK and you wouldn't admit to that

As a quick test last night, I actually logged out of Facebook, and then tried to look myself up using the Facebook people directory.

There was no result at all matching me. I don't know what I did to my settings in the past, but I must have done something right.
