Thinking about doing some guttering and drainage improvements around my house

Was hoping to get it all done today but only got half way.

There is 2 inch of water in my subfloor area that I could see through the airbrick hole. Is this normal or a concern?

Airbrick removed but many loose bricks as well.

New bricks and airbrick, and repointing of the left side.

The water is a concern, likely because of the air bricks being level/below the floor level.

Not much you can do now though, but it might go stagnant and smell till it dries out which may not be for a while now in this weather

It may/may not be an issue,

Excellent job though

This was a rough job. Three near full days it's took, fiddly airbricks, lots of uneven joints to be deep filled (old mortar was just powder).

Right side airbrick.

Just got to re-caulk the windows now and get some upvc trim for the edges.

It's a shame I couldn't also get rid of that middle airbrick but will have to wait. A) they've wedged the door sill onto it, and b) it's got a central heating drain through it that goes under the floor of the room behind those french doors. Will have to wait till I get under the subfloor in that room then decide what to do.

Good job all round. Are you using lime mortar rather than cement?

No I'm using 5 building sand to 1 cement. I did research lime mortar but it seems very mixed opinions on whether it's needed on anything other than a very old stone building. May be a bit of a fad thing I'm finding. I've gone standard cement mortar with a drop of chemical plasticiser.

How do you think I should trim this french door corner?

I've had to reform the corner with mortar where the bricks were missing. I was thinking maybe using an L shaped uPVC trim?

Do you think it would look better trimmed around, or left as is?
