THINKING OF BUYING A 3870 XT READ THIS

Personally i would guess 80-90% of people never use the crossfire bridge. So to jump to gibbo's defense a lil you could always email or call and ask whether it includes these cables / dongles before purchasing :).

It should be noted though in thre description. If you read the description of the ocuk card it makes reference to crossfire and hdmi, these obviously can't work without the parts needed.

Dude come on phone and ask if a card has what its ment to have.Your telling me you would have thought to ring up before placing the order.

When you buy the cheapest available don't expect to get everything, there is normally a reason why something is cheaper!

No worries there, but we do expect to know what we are getting. On non-standard retail products, like OcUK specials, pictures and box contents descriptions need to be accurate. Tell us what we're getting! It's no good just not expecting to get everything.

this happend with the ocuk x1950pro aswell. the pictures used is for them is for illustration was the reason lol. casue sometimes thy get more than one make in selling as there own name well thats the official line. the triplex ones were a budget version and dint even have a temp sensor so fan ran at 100% time as a result noisy. hope this 33870 aint noisy like that also

Ok guys was it a sign and should i get a GT or as gibbo said the gigabyte 3870 XT.
Probably the GT tbh. Just went from a 3850 to a GTS and the improvement is quite marked. Had crossfired 2900XT's before then and the GTS still puts in a good performance compared to that monster set up.

The GT returns similar performance to the GTS for a good deal less money too.

Plus, i've found the NV drivers a little easier to work with and not so bloated.

I'd always recommend you pay the small amount extra and go for something like the PowerColor or Gigabyte!.
FYI, I bought a Powercolor 3650 card and there was no DVI-HDMI adapter supplied.

I know this isn't OcUK's fault - it's the manufacturers I'm angry at as they're happy to plaster their boxes and websites with all the HD marketing guff but totally neglect to mention the adapter isn't supplied.

This is especially galling when these cards required a special ATI adapter in order to provide the sound-over-HDMI functionality so you can't just pick up any old cheap one at a fair.

Moral of the story - check that the product categorically comes with the adapters you need before ordering, regardless of the make.

Just ordered this one actually, any chance of someone who has one posting any pics? Also, aside from it being clocked slightly slower (775 instead of 800 I think) will it perform the same as the Powercolor version, excepting cooling?

I think you'll find if you're on Vista at the very least and then if you're on 64bit the majority of posters if you have a look would say ati are better on their driver front.

I wouldn't want the OP to get the impression that nvidia's drivers are 'better' and somehow easier than Atis when I don't think that's the case at all.

Of course go ahead if you want an 8800gt but I don't want you to think that nvidia is plain sailing lol.

Its good that Gibbo is at least amending the descriptions, and yes its true its just the manufacturers fault can hardly blame Ocuk for that.

If people do require the bits

Search for on fleabay:

CrossFire Bridge Cable, theres one UK thats 20 quid with delivery

ATI HDMI adaptor, Gonna end up about 10-13 quid with delivery

As said perhaps better to spend the extra, but as a previous poster has already complained his powercolor card did not come with an ATI HDMI adaptor, and be warned you cannot just use any HDMI adaptor only the ATI version carrys the 5.1 Audio thru so you need to get the one with ATI stamp on it.

Hi there

Problem is we don't become aware of such issues until we hear about them like this or from a customer directly. As the manufacturers don't go about telling you what they are not including in the box and as we don't go opening up every new product we get in and as OcUK models sometimes vary from different brands it can be hard to track.

There has been times when OcUK cards have been really good bits of kits and included overclocked models etc and sometimes you just get the bare card, we just bring in the best deal at the time.

GT it is then me thinks.Just placed a order for the psu guess its a waiting game as to when i can get the card with the refund from the old psu and card. Thanks guys for the input and putting up with my bad English and rant.

Used x64, vista 32 and vista 64.

CCC is bloatware and it's apparent when it takes a good few minutes to initialise after windows starts.

I've used multiple cards from both manufacturers and found NV better in this respect. I'm no fanboy as i've willingly used the following: 9800pro, x850xt, 2900xt's and 3850's. ATi cards are good but they need to try a little harder with their CCC.

Can't say i've had a problem with CCC since getting the X2 (comming from 8800).

Loads in a couple of seconds...

I couldn't care less me what i got, as long as i got the card, all id be interested in tbh, when i got my GT it came with loads of cables/adapters, and that COH game, i just took the card out, fitted it, put box away, i couldn't care less whats still in there, i wanted the card, thats what i got.:)

Run down to the Powercolor 3870 XT Extreme on TWO deal

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=56&subid=416
(800 MHz core & 2340 MHz Mem) plus it states:

"800MHz Core, 512MB 2340MHz GDDR4 Memory, 320 Stream Processors, CrossfireX Ready, 1yr Warranty with TUL/OcUK, Supplied Call of Juarez PC-DVD Game!"

About to hit buy it now for 2 of these for a CF set up, I hope they come with a CF bridge and the game ? Plus the Mem clocked as stated, Can someone confirm before I order please ??

If everyone was pleased so easy the world would be such a happy place. But when you buy something that looks one way and comes another most people would not be.I did not want games just parts that would make the card work the way i wanted.

Well, I am easily pleased if I get what was advertised....this being:

800MHz Core, 512MB 2340MHz GDDR4 Memory, 320 Stream Processors, CrossfireX Ready, 1yr Warranty with TUL/OcUK, Supplied Call of Juarez PC-DVD Game!"

If this is what I click to buy, this is what I want dropping through my door tomorrow.....nuff said.
Need the CF bridge when connecting 2 of them, so its kind of important :p

If this is it then Gibbo, if your reading, confirm please !!!
