I did the same thing but my PS3 only lasted a week before I went back to my 360. Im running my 360 on an old Dell trinton 19" crt and I really enjoy it.
 
I've never understood how a person can say the games on a specific console are good, but the console is crap :confused: Games are what make the console, so if the console has a good lineup of games, then it's a good console!

All true but there some good hardware points as well to balance it:

Wireless controllers
Guide Button integration
Hard drive
Comfortable controllers

I'd say good games, average console! :)
 
I dunno about everyone else, but I CAN'T STAND the controllers that come with the PS3 (or PS2). I used the logitech pad with my PS2, much preferred that shape. I love the 360 controller though, and both regular and 'S' Xbox1 controllers.

About the 360 though, I do hope Microsoft have nailed the issue with the new board and coolers, as its obviously grating at peoples love of the console, though I've not had issues with heat with my 360's, just crappy Samsung drives in my first two that insisted on saying brand spanking new discs were dirty mid play, and refusing to play again until it'd been ejected and popped back in. Never found the 360 noisy though, I guess some people have different definitions of what is considered background sound pollution :)
 
i don't like the PS3 controller either, the sticks are to loose and the bottom outside trigger just feels weird and your finger slips off it all the time

I agree, Id love to get a PS3 at some point soon because it seems like a really nice console and it has some interesting games coming out but I just can't stand the controller. Are there any other options controller-wise? is it possible to get a 360 wired controller working on it somehow?

It looks okay, I just can't really see what all the fuss is though. Sure it looks fun in small doses and creating stuff is okay, but many games have had the option to share created stuff. It's not really anything new.
 
The lack of games argument doesnt hold as PS3 is getting the games. This isnt the N64 or Dreamcast we are talking about. Same goes for the Wii. The games are coming and they will fill all the gaps very soon. On 360 and PS3 90% of the games are on both this year. Wii has more unique titles.

360's current lineup itself is mature compared to PS3 and Wii but its still early in the generation and nothing like PS2 levels.

If you don't currently have an HDTV, why not put the money you've saved for the 360 towards a nice HDTV? You don't need an HDTV to play a 360 (or a PS3 for that matter) but the difference in quality is well worth the price. Indeed, some 360 games (such as Dead Rising) more or less require that you have an HDTV, since the in-game text is too small to be read in standard-def.

Lies, my cousin came over a few weeks ago and hooked up his 360 to my standard TV whilst I played on my LCD. It didn't look THAT bad tbh, the text was easily readable.
 
I was a Huuuge Fan of Sony but the PS3 is a massive let down. I can't see anyone that has both consoles can prefer it as a games device. The 360 may be noisy and unreliable but it ticks all the boxes when you want a good games console.
Sony just cant decide what the PS3 is and it shows.It is pretty average as a games machine and average as a media player ( I can build a media PC cheaper than buying a pS3- And it would have a proper web browser) Blu ray is great, but the list of negatives is so high. No rumble, terrible triggers, dull XMB, Poor store etc. I am holding on to mine purely as a DVD upscaler and Blu Ray player now.. Hopefully MGS will put some life into it.
My 360 gets used so much. With COD4 beta out and Halo 3 in a week or so there is hardly a reason for me to even look at my PS3 until march next year.
