This Business and Moment...

After losing the last house and then finding out we couldn't do half the things we wanted, so it probably would have been a non starter anyway, we found another.

Different challenges, but same old Alsatian style with 2 outhouses. These are in a different configuration, and opposite the main house, and one adjacent to it with a courtyard in the middle. House on this one is much better condition, so our outhouses.

I did some designs on our vision.

Joining all the buildings together and making the space all flow, with a central rear courtyard overlooked by all parts of the house. We sent it all to the architect who has just come back and said it should be possible and wants to come and see the house next week, so she's coming over to see next week... step 1 of many I'm sure!
If we get the go ahead from the mayor and architect, I'll put a thread in the Homes section! Right now it's still business as, well, I say so :D

:D

Looks like a great project, nice one!

Following on with my "business" (teehee :D) I've got a decorator lined up and a sound/home theatre company lined up to make the setup I want (false partition and in wall speakers) - also want the decorator to give a fresh top coat to all the walls to make my place feel all new. I've got a meeting with my bank on Thursday following the completion of the house evaluation to review that, sort out house insurance, sign the final forms then its a case of the bank setting a date for the exchange! :D eeeeep

Getting bloody close now!

(side note, I got all excited on the weekend as the bed I want had a 15% discount so I ordered that...god I am getting old :p)

I was sold on that tbh :D good stuff!! Great to see it moving forwards, will be wicked.

I'm really pumped about our VolAir stuff at the moment, it's really very good. This backend stuff needs to be finished though and our man Martin is the guy to do it, but he's now been distracted (partially my fault tbh) by our distributed exchange for GoatCash. https://dex.goat.cash which Kristof starting building (fork of ForkDelta, but nothing works without a load of work) because I took a screenshot of Goat Cash logo on the fork delta exchange. Basically, I have myself to blame. On the plus side, getting our own exchange up and running will mean we can list both GOAT and VOL tokens on there and enable the selling/buying which we will need for the VolAir app anyway... I just want to get this app released so I can get people on board to push it!
I have this niggle that they're going to try and can me at this contract as well. I am no way at capacity (haha you think? ****, I have built about 3803748 businesses) and they are trying to get rid of the software I support for something else, (it sucks, I told them they should tbf) so reckon my costs on top of this will be something they'll want to reduce. Been looking about but nothing really in my space, or any space I like, but hey. I want to just quit and sit in my pants but my wife has already said she wants a million things for this / the house.

My interview Thursday was pretty intense, the first with the Head of Finance/Deputy Head of Finance I felt went okay, I was not prepared for how savage the meeting straight after with the CFO/Finance Director level would be though. She's an ex VP of Finance (among other roles) of some huge blue-chip companies so very senior and experienced commercially, I struggled but I did get through it, I hadn't experience something like it before.

Should hear back early next week, but going into it according to the recruiter I was the leading candidate (dunno if they say that to everyone!) out of 3. It will be a huge step up from what I'm currently doing, but I'm not going to get anywhere if I don't work hard so I shouldn't complain :D

Not sure if you're happy to say on a public forum, but was this KC by any chance? I had a very similar experience when interviewing for a Finance role there.

Nah it wasn't them.

Heard back yesterday, they'd like me to go back for a final stage interview however it probably won't be till the end of next week as the other 2 people they interviewed weren't suitable for the role, so they'd like to interview a few more until they have one other person for the final stage. Fills me with some negativity because obviously I didn't quite convince them enough in my first 2 interviews but I suppose I've got further than others so there's something there! I do understand the risk of just hiring someone without having someone comparable to bat them against.

You're probably right, they want someone to put you up against, and you might not satisfy 100% of their dreams. BUT on the plus side, you're the best person they have seen, so that's bloody good going!!

Been offered a role in Sweden, just waiting for details and a firm offer.

Location is 1.5hrs away from Stockholm though, which would make travelling back every few weeks a bigger pain than I’d like :o

Nice one, is it one of the previous roles/companies that you had floating around recently?

Same company (and client) just a different location really.

All but 1 internal application has fallen through so I'm basically down to the wire to accept.

Good salary and role? Enough to make up the coming home extra ballache worth it?

Excellent salary but location is 2hrs inside rural Sweden, so it would be a major ball ache to get home.

Tbh it is pushing me away from saying yes, so I'll see if I can get more information from them first.

TBH I'd take it to get your foot in the door for working in Sweden and building from there. Excellent Salary? Buy yourself a Tesla and waft along in comfort and quietness to and from work :D

Errr Model 3 :p

In my business I just left the bank. All sorted. Waiting for final approval documents from the bank now but it's been verbally confirmed. Should have that Monday/Tuesday. They'll email that to me. I then sign and return then a date to exchange can be set. Legally we have to give 2 weeks notice to the current owner to arrange everything with his bank. So we're looking at last week of March/First of April :D :D :D

First phone interview this morning in quite a few years ... but seemed to go quite well and they want me to come in for a face to face. Job seems ok but I am wondering if I'm underselling myself with it a bit and should be aiming for something higher. Salary would be better than now and commute would be good but the job is a bit of step backwards in content but would give the ability to learn some new things ...

My colleagues (who are also looking) are trying to push me into applying for roles which make me think that no-one would employ me to do that ... I think a lot of that is a confidence thing.

I work in the linux space in enterprise IT, not in BAU or Projects in general (although have have been involved in some agile project with teams spread across Europe and the US), more in development and defining of standards, evaluating new technologies and productionising them, being a technical author, as well as dealing with escalations from third line support and correcting technical and solution designs for architects. I work for a large international IT services provider. I've been in that role for ~9-10 years and worked in Support and Projects for around 10 years before that. Changes at my current employer mean I'm looking at moving.

The role that I've been interviewing for is more of a BAU/Projects role but would include working with some new technologies which, whilst I've learnt about, I haven't had a chance is use that much in my current role. My colleagues are suggesting that I should move more into the architecture space.
