This Business and Moment...

If you want something with a great search, OneNote. I've used it for many KBs for the fact that you can screenshot into it, take notes about issues etc. and then the search is instant and it searches text in images too. Which is handy for finding things.

So my wife today is at the Ortho consultant and seeing another one in a couple of weeks in London, which means we have to think about moving back to the UK/ timelines etc. now. So I have been looking at jobs.
I applied for a few just chucking the CV out there, but I spoke to someone today about a Programme Manager contract in London. He said I needed a better CV but from speaking to me he was happy to put me forward for the shortlist.

I've just forked out a ton to have my CV redone by a proper company specialising in the PM area... so let's hope it's worth it! Hopefully after Thursday I'll hear more about whether the client wants to meet with me.

Got my "professional CV" back. Looks like I could have done it... ha either way, if it's effective, I don't really care.
I'm hoping I make the shortlist for this programme manager contract in London, but also noticed the same guy is recruiting for a very similar role in a Law firm, too. They sound like really interesting contracts, albeit 3hrs a day commuting, but hey, wouldn't be forever.

Mate, I feel you. I'd love to get this one contract in the UK as it's a great project, great money and I was shortlisted... it would just make things line up as best as possible for going back with everything. Worst is the Mrs knows about it and she's like all yay this'll be great! I'm like don't for god's sake bank on this, as there is more chance of it not happening that is. The pressure you then feel is immense.
I haven't heard **** and I'm just carrying on looking around. It's mega stressful though, but you have to just plough on and do other applications/ keep busying yourself, don't lose sleep over it. It's not worth it. Just find other options, it'll all come good.

Will do mate, thanks. There are a ton of roles for me... just a ton of people out there for them.

I wish it was re, emotuit, it's just really slow on sales cycles and I really need to be hitting it full time, but then I can't... so it's a vicious cycle! It's a slow start that's for sure. We just don't have the resource at the moment.

The contract I'm on and have been here in various forms for the last 5yrs, the team I'm currently in is splitting. Now, I kinda just come and do what I need to and bugger off as I'm really not in to rocking boats right now as it pays the bills and all that.
Yet, I also don't want the person that will ultimately be asked to lead one of these teams, to get the job. It's not that I don't like him, I do. I'd class him as a mate. Yet, he doesn't want the job as it would put him as a direct report to someone he doesn't like and he's a god awful man manager. Instead, I'd be much better at it. So today I told my boss this. I was like, look, I'm much better than he is and a much better fit for the role.
Will see how that goes down...

I just am getting bored of being a yes man, when this place is huge yet so much **** poor management in place. With that I just emailed the CTO telling him he needs to stop with al the BS metrics that come out green for everyone's KPIs as they're useless and don't help anyone. Explained why and what they should do differently and why.

Yea, I'm on one of those today.

We have a customer (with emotuit) who has paid for a license, but for a very small set of users ($500 license) so not much for us, but it's money. He's standing up his own Canvas LMS but is having issues along the way and kept asking for our help, it was a real sap and I had to say we can't do it, it was stopping us getting stuff done.
Now, he's spoken to Instructure, who make Canvas LMS and they want $8k to help get it all set up for him and he can't budget that. I was going to say to him I'd have it done for $1.5k flat fee, if I can persuade Sean to do it, that is, and if he'd also go for it.

I'd love to help him for nothing but it puts a massive dent in our releases for features.

See what I can do, as I don't want to lose his custom (we don't have many!) and it's a good cause.
