This drill..

You going to be making holes while doing a puzzle then? :D
But thanks for the headsup on the Parkside, Wild9.

I get frustrated easily...

The Jigsaw uses the same batteries so the bonus there is I get 2 powertools with 2 interchangeable batteries which mostly overcomes the single low capacity battery problem.

Very handy!

I'm wondering if there's an even better deal than the Parkside. Not that I'm going to change it now. But in Homebase, they've got stock clearance of a 2 speed Worx 20v 2Ah, with 2 batteries and 3 year warranty, down from £89.99 to £49.93.

That does sound like a cracking deal! I have to say though I've just got home and checked out the Parkside kit and I'm really impressed, feels very solid and much closer in quality to our Bosch blue drill than I was expecting.

Sorry but it wont be anywhere near the quality of the blue Bosch. If you really want to test it out then get the drill bit stuck on the 2nd speed and continue to pull the trigger ;).

They look the business and will be fine for DIY tasks, but don't kid yourself you have got a bargain, you do get what you pay for generally with tools.

You don't have to be sorry, I said it felt closer than expected not that it was the same. I have a Bosch blue as well, this parkside is a beater. And you don't always get what you pay for, I've seen many people drop over a ton on a crap DIY drill.

I have seen loads of misinformed comments about these tools on sites like HotUKdeals, like that they are made in Germany and made in the same factory as Bosch and are identical to the green Bosch gear etc.

With a 3 year warranty though it doesn't really matter. If it lasts 3 years you will have got your moneys worth.

Hopefully the drill is better made than the corded multitool. I might have got a lemon but it would get hot after a min or so and then the motor would slow down, which made it useless for anything really. The velcro system on the sanding pads was also pointless as they would just come loose straight away. A new sanding attachment would have cost more than the whole Parkside multitool set cost, so I ended up just going to screwfix and buying a decent multitool instead.

I agree with all of this but the drill is still surprisingly solid for the price. I have what I assume is the same Parkside oscillating multitool too. I haven't experienced any slowdown but I agree the Velcro is useless.

Yeah Im really impressed with the Parkside as some of the specs are higher then my Bosch GSB 10.8V Pro drill (blue) that was over £120. I watched a vid of the Parkside and it did seem quite a bit nosier then my bosch so the quality isnt all there. But I cant fault it on the specs at all and the Li-Ion battery will be a godsend. Merlin should be well chuffed with his new toy;)

Well if it makes you feel any better my 7 month old bosch that cost me £100 from screwfix now has a slipping clutch and sparks came out the back of it. The chuck doesn't lock properly half the time too.

A return to shop is in order soon. It's only hung a few shelves and window blinds.

Actually, that Worx drill I mentioned isn't so great. 2 x 20v batteries, but the torque speed is only 30 Nm (Parkside 40Nm) and the rpm speeds are considerably lower as well on the Worx. I'll double check it at Homebase tomorrow as their labelling in the shop was a bit misleading and confusing.

The only thing that is disappointing about this Parkside is that all other cordless drills of lower spec, including lower spec Parkside drills, come with plastic carry cases, yet this one only comes with the cardboard packaging and the plastic tray that the drill sits in. I wonder if I can buy a cheap £10 drill case that it would fit in.

 Is that a blue or green tool? Always hear good things about Bosch from workmates, but i guess you can get manufacturing faults with any tool.

The only chucks I will use now are self tightening, pretty much any chuck will work loose, plastic or metal. Especially on drills with powerful electric brakes.

It's half the price of a full diy drill to buy lol, but it came attached to my Dewalt drill . You just lightly tighten it until it clicks and then the drill bit isn't going anywhere.

Bosch have been having trouble lately with "chuck wobble" with there latest drills and drivers. My drill is comming up to 2years old in May, but even now I check the chuck for wobble and make sure the drill is running true every so often. I am probably just paranoid but there were a lot of reports of this problem.

Well a lot of people dont tighten the chuck up properly, they either half tighten it or they do it the lazy way and use the motor to tighten it. It makes my blood boil when people dont tighten drills up properly, because you are damaging the drill bit and the grips of the jaws of the chuck.

Its a blue bosch. I dunno about chuck technology or any of that crap, but I do know that I tighten it right up it sometimes goes tight, then makes a crunchy type noise and spins half a turn.

And yes it actually goes wobbly, looks like the drill bit is bent but it really isn't.

Im guessing your chuck is "auto lock" like mine, it clicks as you tighten up the chuck and it sounds like you have the dreaded "chuck wobble" too

If the chuck is always nice and tight before you start, then theres noway it can work its way loose. The only reason they work there way loose, if it hasn't been tightened up properly in the first place, or if the grips on the jaws of the chuck has warn away from the jaws spinning around the drill bits

Yeah that's the one. Its definitely not right. Ill have to take a real look at it this weekend and maybe see if they will let me swap it.

If its less then a yr old and its not your fault its broken, then they cant do anything else accept give you a replacement and when you get the replacement, register it online for 3yrs warranty covered by Bosch.

It should have a 3 year warranty, so there should be no issue with swapping it. Screwfix are usually really good with returns if you bought it from there.

A pro tool really shouldn't have broken so soon. Some of my DeWalt tools are knocking on for ten years old now and have had a hard site life, but still working fine. I have maintained them, especially the jigsaw and recip saw as they require relubing once a year and had to swap a few brushes here and there, but other than that they have been perfect.

Maybe an email to Bosch could get you a few freebies..

I think its only the 1 yr warranty if you don't register it and 3yrs if you do and that's only with the blue range tools, as you can't register the green range tools. I have registered a 4ah battery that I bought for my drill a few weeks ago and now the battery is covered for 2yrs, until 2018. Its 3yrs for tools and 2yrs for chargers and batteries warranties if you register them, or its the bog standard 1yr guarantee from where you have purchased from and 1yr warranty from bosch

If you go through Bosch, there's a return form or something you print out and bosch then arrange to collect your tool for no charge and if they cant fix your tool they will send you a new one... But more then likely they will replace the faulty parts on the tool.

Look it up on the bosch website.......
