This Forum. Why so basic?

Things I like:

Small sigs
Avatar theming
The community

Things I would like:

The only thing I would like is a white theme.

A mobile theme. I can't mod on my phone, it's just too awkward. Chrome on android is OK for browsing, but the experience could be better.

PMs I'm split on. I could see them working well, but equally I dont think the forum loses that much without them.

Tefal the detective. Whatever happened to Pensky.

The forum already looks cluttered with all these bloody new sub-forums if you ask me. Sailing/boating? Srsly?

Forum provides could advice and dicussion. Why would a 15mb gif that says your name in some horrific graffiti animation make a forum better. (Past experience of forums)

It's simple, clean and runs smoothly. The black/dark theme looks great too!

tbh, i dont bother with any other forums, i love it here (no homo)

i like that theres no custom avatars, gives it more sophistication really.
also love the layout, its so simple! yeah a different colour would nice but its not a reason to not use the forum!

I frequent a fair number of forums & for me the less clutter the better, I like a speedy forum with instant refresh & quick turn over. Any slowdown & I bail out.

Same really. I know I could come on here and see something different every time. Other forums are more topic specific or just too quiet in general to have my attention for a long time.

This comes up all the time and the old schoolers will always defend it's 'clean' looks. There's no reason why they can't allow small custom avatars as it helps identify users. On other forums I recognize regulars but hardly know any here despite using it all the time.

Lack of Tapatalk support is disgraceful for an IT forum and they should really update.

I like clean looking, easy to read forums which this achieves, but at the expense of basic functionality and customization.

Signatures can do the same job as custom avatars, I recognise many people by them so I'm not sure what the issue is there.

Recognise people using their sigs. And tapatalk is disgusting and there is no need for it at all. Every smartphone I've used the forums load up fine on. I've just typed out this on my mobile using the stock browser.

That your opinion, many people like Tapatalk as it filters out unnecessary info, saves data use, resizing etc. Not everyone has a 5" screen on their smartphone either.

Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean everyone feels that way, nor that OcUk shouldn't offer it as an option.

i dont use tapatalk on my iphone as I prefer the full browser tbh. Hardly a big screen in comparison to the newer, bigger phones.
