The only thing i'd like is...

A youtube plugin, press a button add in the youtube link done! saves all the time wasted with youtube brackets

The amount of indie news articles I do it would save time!, also it makes it so much easier for new members

I do think there should be female avatars so when you find out a member is female you don't keep imagine them as Christopher Walken or the like, or is that just me?

The forum is functional and tidy. It works very well and there is no need to change.

A choice would be nice though don't you think? I mean, Gmail 'does the job', but it's nice to have the different themes it offers. What's so wrong with giving people a choice. If someone wants basic, then they can disable all the sigs, smilies, avatars etc, and if someone wants it all then they can do so if they wish.

There isn't anything wrong with these forums. They may be basic, but at the end of the day they serve their purpose. You get the information you want without the sigs which make pages 100% longer to scroll through, colour schemes which hurt your eyes and the gimmicky features that many other forums offer.

I don't care about the forum layout. It's the community which is why I enjoy spending time here.

I don't think this is the default blue. I don't think I've ever seen any other forum with this colour scheme.

I like the design. Only think I would like is it enabled for Tap'a'talk on the ios / android. Makes browsing on the go so much better!

so start your own forum with a choice? ocuk has worked well for years without problems. I don't see what your problem is, the point of ocuk is the thread content, not who can have the most ridiculous avatar, or the worlds biggest sig. and how does the colour scheme detract from your ability to read a threads content?
