This Forum. Why so basic?

I quite like the forum as it is, it's clean and has a high ease of use.

I guess if the forum was more complicated, it would be more expensive? That could be a reason for keeping it so minimal.

So is this forum as it is.

That's a bit silly, Facebook is popular more so via content then presentation.

Facebook has changed huge amounts since it's first release, so Facebook is an example of a website changing and maintaining or increasing it's popularity?

Deal with it,

Tbh, activity and content makes a forum good, not stupid forum features.

don't like it, don't log in ;) simple enough.

Another i would like to see is when i click "Find more posts by *******" It shows you a list of entire threads!

Just show us a list of posts from the person! I bet thats an easy one as well!

Facebook makes a lot of changes that annoy huge amounts of people but there is no better alternative so they stick around. I'd switch to google+/any alternative in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the fact none of the people i contact regularly switch. (FWIW i spent about 3 months with a google+ page and had 4 people in my 'circles' compared to the 200 odd on facebook)

They can do whatever the **** they want and until the 'next big thing' comes out they don't seem to care what people think.

I wasn't actually talking to you and yes I did read your post:rolleyes:
Once I have a forum on Tapatalk I don't then visit it in the mobile browser so your point was a total non-issue for me.
No need to roll your eyes at me. In a public forum, everyone is talking to everyone.

You've explained why you like it, I've explained why I don't. Each to their own *shrug*

Sure but it's like 2 clicks more to go profile > stats > find more posts and it shows as a post list.

Individual avatars are an abomination. I have never seen a forum that didn't look horrible as a result. It takes longer to load and everyone loves crappy animated gifs.

I love the OcUK forums because they look about 10 year old. There is no rubbish, no adverts, no spammers every other post. If people are that bothered by an avatar or the ability to have a douchie sig then I doubt they are over the age of 16 and will hopefully realise that people don't care about their "cool" picture or their deep quote in the sig.

who is missing these features? most members, or just a handful? I would suggest as these things are not put forward a lot, and by most peoples reactions, it is just a handful. so why ruin the forum for the masses to please the minority?

Okay things I don't personally like. I realise you others may not feel the same.

No way to tag/mention people (as far as I know) Its really handy to 'mention' people if know they would be interested in a certain post and/or thread. i.e. @Zatoichi.uK

Looks dated. Sorry, it just does. Even the font is depressingly old.

No 'like' option. Yes I realise this is a Facebook hangover and I know how much you all hate FB. Its nice get instant feedback on certain posts or comments. You could have disliked my post for example. ;)

No Tapatalk functionality. Its my most used app and the fact that a large IT company hasn't embraced it just seems odd to me.

No decent avatars. I recognise many forum regulars from their avatar as much as their name. It allows for some individuality on forums too. Yes I too hate large avatars and they should be restricted in size. Allow some flexibility though.

Facebook is still hugely popular despite these 'huge' amounts of unhappy people then eh?

Presentation comes in to it, but with a lot of things it's content > presentation.

I like the Overclockers simple, minimalistic look, but I don't think it's beyond discussion. I do love the 'don't like it log out' replies haha!

I guess it's cheap to run a website like this in comparision to a web forum with lots of bells and whistles and features.

The rolleyes was (in my opinion) well deserved due you your condescending tone in assuming I didn't 'bother' to read your posts.
I did read them but they weren't relevant to the comment I made which was directed specifically at the member I quoted.
