This game is how old!?

FF VII

1997. I guess, maybe not as old as most :D

I do like the Sonic megadrive games mentioned in here already thou. Oh and Virtual Fighter 2 for the Saturn was pretty awesome.

You'll probably find a bunch of the classic SNES games will stand up to the test of time, I try and play Super Mario World / Super Metroid every 4-5 years.

Need to get a new power pack for my SNES:(.

I tried playing Goldeneye again recently and it was just painful. It was great fun at the time (4player split screen deathmatch) but the controls and visuals are just horrible.

Imogen and Xor on the BBC.

Commando(on the zx), Dizzy/Seymour games, the 16 bit Sonic series, MK1/2, Duke3D, UT99, there's a whole lot more but they're all pretty old and I still play them loads.

Still have my snes and mario kart, streetfighter 2 and pilotwings all get an outing every so often. My gf has a megadrive, she loves streets of rage but gets annoyed when i call it a poor copy of final fight :p

I wasn't a Sega Sucker but from what I've seen Streets of Rage is a fair bit better than Final Fight :)

Mario Kart on the SNES has to be one of the best games of all time. I really need to get the GBA version working in 4 player splitscreen using certain software on the PC. It's the only newer version to come close to the original SNES version for awesomeness.

I still get the urge to go and replay Dan Dare from my spectrum days now and again. I can imagine it being insanely frustrating though.

Aye. Mars lander. Introductory tape. Acorn Electron(1983). Elite(1984) plowed years into that game.

Playing Magic Mushroom (Acornsoft) with it's level editor and Castle Quest(Micropower) at Holborn LIbrary on their BBC Micro in the Childrens library downstairs. Cracking times.

Any game by Superior Software. Obvious favourites were Ravenskull and Citadel.

I can't believe ff7 is 14 years old.
The only old game I can recall playing again is golden axe. I loved fighting my brother for those magical pots of goodness. I loved screwing him over at certain points aswell :p

There was a multi cart that had Golden Axe, Streets Of Rage and Revenge Of Shinobi on it, swallowed so much of my youth.

Total Annihlation & DiD's Total Air War are still on my hard drive.

TA was released in 1997, in 2004 it won the award for "best RTS game of all time" beating the likes of Starcraft, Red Alert 2, Warcraft III and more. That kinda shows how biblically awesome it is, hell we still play it at LANs as for game play its still on par with SCom and SC2 and runs on any system.

Its more like an improved version of Final Fight, which was an improved version of Double Dragon, which was an improved version of river City Rampage, etc.

My fav game for lasting appeal is Soccer Brawl by Konami, always load it up on a mame equipped Xbox when there's group games going on, its a futuristic football game with cyborgs that can shoot each other and execute special moves with the ball :D

*ahem* we completed that last night as well. ;) The enemies cheat like hell though (or maybe I'm just rubbish).

Loads of great old games being mentioned here and it's good to see people still playing them. :D

Anyone remember playing this? I played it in primary school on the computers our school had won (one per classroom, we were so leet...)
