Just had an email from British Gas saying my direct debit is going to change from next month after "reviewing my account". I've been in the property for 6 months paying £80/mo direct debit as that's what they assumed a property of my size needs but already I'm over £200 in credit. They've now decided that my electrical usage might increase slightly as I've spent more evenings at home, like the TV on and spending a bit more time at the PC but still well under the current direct debit by a long shot because my gas usage is low. To cover this increase my direct debit is raising to £284.53 per month. That's 3 fully populated mining rigs kicking out 2kw of heat constantly they think I'm going to be using this summer!

Idiots.

It's egg mayo, it's a meant to be mess, not sure how you see "more" if the entire sandwich is in focus.

And it's already got rid, in my tummy. :D
The entire sandwich is not in focus. :p
The middle of the sandwich is in focus though. :p

Looks like a nice sandwich, even though looking at some parts of it hurts my eyes. :D

@Steeps if you're £200 in credit why would they increase your direct debit

I'm with bulb and my costs have dropped slightly now that they have reduced their prices a bit (and I'm batch cooking more). I did look around a few weeks ago but other suppliers were working out to be more than what I'm paying now

Furious I wake up so much earlier than I actually need to for work.

think this is now week 12 or 13 of working from home. Through our meetings it seems this may be the case for several more months yet

God i hope so, i've been absolutely loving it.

We were also discussing yesterday (wife and I), about whether i could push for it being more regular and then maybe moving up to the Lake District or somewhere by the sea. I could manage that commute one or two days per week and it'd be ace for the rest of the time.

We've started getting up at 7 and going for a long walk in the mornings now, great start to the day!

I feel like crap.

Recently all our healthy eating has gone to pop and we've had a few takeaways. Last night we said we'd get pizza as neither of us felt like Seabass that we'd intended to have. Then make a real effort to get back to cooking and eating properly.

There's a local pizza place that our neighbours rave about and thats won some "best of" awards. It came and it was awful. Really greasy on top and loads of cheese. I usually demolish a 12" pizza and then have the remainder of my wifes for breakfast. I ate half of mine before feeling sick, then i stayed up after the wife went to bed and ate the rest of mine around 10pm (even though i still felt a bit sick), then i ended up feeling REALLY sick. Had some Andrews and went to bed.

Woke up this morning still feeling sick and have thrown the wifes leftovers away. For me to not want breakfast pizza is proof of it's horribleness.

We've done this a few times recently, where we've ordered takeaway, then not enjoyed it much and wished we'd just cooked something fresh ourselves. Fortunately i think this will really push us to eat better as it shows we can make nicer food ourselves.

@Marvt74 felt exactly the same way the other week, since this lockdown we've actually gone to a more healthier diet and had a pizza takeaway not to long ago, I woke up in the middle of the night and had to run to the bathroom as I felt like my insides were going to come up, I didn't actually be sick but for hours I had the feeling it was horrible...

Lately I've noticed after drinking Tassimo coffee I feel really sick, I think it may be the milk they use... Anyone think it could be that also as its long life milk?

I go through waves. Some days I love it and others I do miss going to an office and having that separation of work and personal time. It doesn't help that I'm currently living elsewhere and pretty much confined to one room so it does get a little too much at times. I think if I was in our new home as we should've been I would've enjoyed it much more but I should be happy that we should be in the house soon-ish and I'll be able to work 3 days from home a week.

That's not a bad idea actually. I was considering maybe going for a 20 minute cycle in the mornings to make a sort of fake commute to get me in the right head space for work. Haven't done it yet though :p

Ah yes, that would make a difference.

My parents live in Spain and they started some building work just before their lockdown and had moved into a friend of a friends basement apartment. I think that was tough as they didn't really know the people very well and it went on for months rather than just a few weeks. So they kept nipping back to their house to use the pool area against the lockdown rules and to have their own outside space.

Found out the local coffee shop (Coffee#1 franchise, my 2nd favourite franchise) is open so going to walk over now and grab a coffee as I’ve had nothing but instant ones the last few months.

I. Am. Excited.

Just not sure between a flat white or a hazelnut latte

New Zealand goes down to Level 1 for Covid19 alert response in about an hour which is pretty amazing. Domestically we're looking very good, the challenge is how to open up internationally without suffering.

e: for context, NZ Prime Minister Ardern described level 1 as being "where life feels as normal as it can in the time of a global pandemic".

Yeah I have some friends who live in NZ who I speak to daily and it's amazing how they've dealt with it.

They did shutdown basically instantly though

My electric bill was £35 this month.

Here's the graph which supposedly justifies the increase:

Smart meter - automatic meter readings reported?

It doesn't even match their forecast for the rest of the year + a bit extra buffer. Something went wrong. Perhaps they're expecting more people to stay in over the second Covid wave? Utterly bizarre, as per your individual household record in the graph anyway.

If they're clawing back more than you're saving on the DD route, then tell them you'll cancel the DD and go monthly/quarterly instead, unless the above is sorted and more accurate going forward.

Observing a young adult develop and defend an environmentally-induced sudden-onset acute personality change disorder is a bizarre experience, fwiw. It is notable that the usual rational appeals to common sense do have no effect in the acute phase after counter-identification with the new 'identity' have occurred after / for 72 hours.

This is the end of the 4th day. It is now evident that the complexity of the autoformed fallacy network now used to defend the new self-destructive false identity / personality change is significant, and now already beyond the reach of most clinical methods.

Recovery prospects are in the order of probability of around only 1 in over 8 billion today. In a further 17 days the recovery prospects for the affected individual are nil.
