Oo good memory. Nah I didn't get through the first round as I wasn't experienced enough.....so why interview me in the first place.

I've had that before. Makes no sense. I've also had the old "Oh yeah, you need xyz qualification" then why didn't the ad say that?!?!?

I had similar when I applied for an office junior role. Didn't specify any experience needed and back then office junior basically meant school leaver. It took them about 3 months to respond to me to say I didn't have enough experience

By that point though I was working in a role that was actually more indepth, at the company I'm still with to this very day...19 years on :o (obviously different role now though lol)

As for going for it, what does your gut say?

I'll get the zimmer on order...

Cauliflower cheese, with bacon bits and mushrooms stirred-in & a baked potato.

Perhaps a whole cauli was unnecessary for just the two of us...

Ah the joys of job hunting...especially "in this climate. So done with that phrase.

So it is WAY out of my comfort zone, a step down...but it would open so many more doors...and learn about a whole new sector...I do feel like it would be the right step.

Progression chances sound decent also as I asked about it at the first stage....seems like I should do it IF offered. :)

If it can open more doors and give you some experience in a different sector then sounds like a good choice if you're offered the role :) good luck!

Because sometimes the company management change their mind of requirements but they don’t update their ad most of the time.

Companies would rather just go through the motions most of the time so it looks like they doing something for their wage.

It’s not an easy task to recruit someone that suits the needs of the business.

No, no. It's because HR and recruiters are pretty bad at their jobs.

Rectuiters are for sure.

I've had recruiters email me about jobs asking for my phone number so they can call me, I give them my number, they never call.

They email me and call me about jobs at the wrong end of the country.

They email me and call me about jobs I'm not qualified for because they can't read.

Etc...

I once interviewed for a position which would have been life changing, I did really well in the interview as far as I could tell! It was for double the money I was on at the time, in an industry I wanted to move into, with tonnes of opportunities to progress, company car, my own office, the whole shibang!

I "got the job" as far as the guy who was to be my manager was concerned, they put me on the rota, they got my name tags and stuff ordered, my AD and exchange accounts were all set up ready, and then nothing........ (I wasn't told that I had got the job, but I have a friend who works there who saw all this happening)

I found out from their HR department a few weeks later that they had made a mistake and the position I was interviewing for wasn't actually open.

That was one of the key events that ****ed up my mental state and drove me deeper into depression, and now I'm unemployed trying to find a minimum wage job so I can get back on my feet.

Good stuff! And ever since then the company in question haven't contacted me about positions opening up, they haven't responded to my emails, and they are seemingly ignoring the fact I exist.

My friend who still works there was full of apologies but it wasn't his fault...

That's **** :( Really!

They're probably embarrassed. I can see the hiring manager being embarrassed and not wanting to mess you around again, and I can see HR being embarrassed and evasive.
