What a life. Today I'm writing how to acquire an invisible body (scientific article) for experimental use. Teenage me of yesteryear could never have foreseen such a thing.

First world problem alert: The M&S near me has recently installed new self-checkout machines. For some reason they've decided to move the barcode scanner from the 'flat bed' of the machine under the screen to just beneath the screen in a vertical orientation. The problem with this is every other self-checkout works the other way so your muscle memory has you doing every other item the 'old' way then having to reposition. Also, it's a less natural, more time consuming motion. Lastly, the new barcode scanners are ***** and take ages to register the barcode.

Saturday night is the worst. Bet the wasted on booze chucking up are seen before you

Around here they actually don't have much sympathy for drunks, maybe dangerously so, if they think it is just alcohol you won't get an ambulance or very low priority unless someone is literally dying and same for A&E.

Watched one of these Ambulance programmes and this patients mates told them he was having an heart attack.
Two ambulances turned up and the guy was just drunk.
When asked why they told them it was a heart attack they just said "Well you wouldn't have come if we told you he was drunk" :(
The thing is they still had to take him to A&E 'just in case'.

We've been debating buy a car whilst over here, as when we move over later in the year, my plan is to buy a cheapish van in the UK, drive it over with out stuff and then (hopefully) sell it over here without taking too much of a hit.

My wife has been suggesting a Mini convertible, it fills my hopes of a convertible, but also gives her something small. I can't seem to get on board with one, and something like an Audi A4 convertible would be a little big. Sadly having a dog we need to transport means something like an MX5/Z4 isn't an option. She dismissed my other brilliant suggestions due to size and saying she wanted a small car that she'd be confident with, given we've had some hairy moments in our SUV on tiny back roads.

We have however come to an agreement :D

She's actually open to it (prior to a test drive anyway). The benefit being the enthusiast market available means we can likely swap out the seats for something really comfy/supportive. Can add a hard top which gives more comfort in the winter. The downsides being that it's tough to find an automatic which she needs.
Did find one not too far away but it's RHD.

Used cars here are so painful. It's so hard to mentally accept i'm going to be paying >50% more than it's be back in the UK.

I'm really just done now.

It looks like all I will ever do is work really hard to stay in the same ******* place or get worse at every ******* opportunity.

My wife who has been working her ass off as a nqt the last year with one more year to go has just been told her contract as a teacher isn't being renewed and instead she'll be a cover supervisor ( a drop of just under £1k a month).

So now all the pressure is back on me and I'll have to work every bit of of overtime available to cover the bills.

I'm going to miss out my kids childhood cos I'm going to always be in ******* work.

What's the actual point. I'm pretty sure family would be financially better off if I have a fatal accident in work than if I stay alive.

******* one step forward three steps back.

/Rant
