This Instant And Moment - 2025!

Ah, a proper Sunday off. Had to drive to London Friday evening and get shopping at 11pm before bed, to host a late Christmas party at my in-laws Saturday. Did the party, cleaned the in-laws house, drove home carefully in blizzard. In bed by 1am!

My son's sleep pattern is massively screwed up after a medical issue over the past ten days. I got up about 11am yesterday after less than 5 hours sleep and still awake now as he can't sleep.

I will crash out when my wife gets up in about an hour. Hopefully he will do the same but he misses out on going back to his day centre for some much needed social time.

Hope you all get some rest.

I went to bed knowing I'd caught a cold but managing it. Then spent the entire night half awake trying to breathe properly, and having bizarre dreams. I've just called in sick to work which is very rare for me. Staying in bed :(

Weird, I typed out a reply to you earlier and could have sworn it posted. Oh Well.

Thanks, I went to sleep at 5am when my wife took over. My son finally zonked out at 8 and will probably sleep until tomorrow now. Happens every month or so, especially after illness. He is on his BiPap and no leaks all day so far.

I got up at 11.30 ish and felt better once my new blood pressure meds kicked in.

Hope you feel better soon. My daughter had something cold/chesty for the past few days but woke up feeling better today. So much going around at the moment.

Thanks, it's the third bug I've caught in 6 weeks! My partner has also had 2, different, colds. This was the first time I've been "ill" with it. The day off was definitely needed.

Started feeling very rough yesterday, bad headache/sore throat/aching body/cold, etc.
At first, I thought it might be caffeine withdrawal, since I hadn't drunk any coffee since Saturday. I understand that withdrawal sometimes can exhibit flu-like symptoms, or so I have read anyway.

Today, I got my daily dose of poison in, but I now don't think it was caffeine related. I feel better than I did, and I'm making extra sure to keep warm and drink plenty of water.
What I don't get is, we're in the cold part of the year, so I would assume that these conditions would kill off the bugs, but if I am going to get ill, it almost always seems to be during December/January.

I visited mum on new years day and she had something and now I've come down with it as steadily getting worse not sure what it is but assuming its flu as it appear to be doing the rounds at the moment only had covid a couple months ago as well that was bad enough

Well, all I can say is I hope you get over it as quickly as possible.
I'm drinking more fluids and earlier, I turned the heating up. I only had it on 18, though that's fairly normal for me.

Stories from Russell, New Zealand, part 2

We were at the wharf just before lunchtime today. Me, my wife, our 16 year old daughter and her 4 friends. Daughter and friends were doing some diving into the water, then on to the pontoon, back to shore and then back up the wharf to dive in again.
One of the tourist ferries from Paihia arrived at the wharf and everyone disembarks. It's pretty common for them to slow down, see which idiots are jumping, and carry on their way but one particular group stopped and lined up neatly to watch in earnest.
My daughter's friend dives in and I kid you not they all begin to politely clap.

"Oh!" they say.

Friend 2 dives in and the same thing happens. Polite clap, "oh!", look at each other and nod appreciatevely.

This goes on for another 5 or 10 minutes until the girls get bored and come back to dry off. The group claps them out of the water and tell them "very good" in stilted English and I'm pretty sure they thought their cruise ship had set this up as an 'authentic New Zealand water experience'

LMFAO

Someone's dog ran Infront of my bike, I hit the brakes and basically was on ice....

I almost had the same on boxing day. Owners in a world of their own while their little dog ran across the cycle path towards the road on one of those extending leads. Fortunately they woke up when my brakes let out a deafening screech, but I could have been joining you with some nasty scrapes or worse as the cycle path was full of sand. I hope you are healing well.

yea it sucks, thankfully I slipped under the left side of the bike when the wheels slipped out..
literally the dog ran out from behind some bushes and just stopped frozen in front of my bike about 5 ft away, maybe the guy had walked into a blind spot to pick up a dog turd :S, but it's a shared space so his dog should be on a lead.

I did about 20 miles and it didn't even seem iced over just patches of frost, I was literally about 2 miles from home when it happened :o I almost went a different way as well
.
circles are where the dog hit as me bike skidded sideways across the concrete, totally destroying the USB cable connecting my phone to the bike, since it hit there there's no way my front wheel wouldn't have just steam rolled he dog surely.

as you can see from cheap bell, I'm a good cyclist and warn people I'm approaching... always drop speed to pass people too

Imagine if that was a rear derailleur :O

Kinda fortunate I guess, the bike slide about 4ft more than I did.

tail bone is bruised as hell, was worried I fractured it but seems a lot better already.
