This Instant And Moment - 2025!

I just saw OCUK on a colleagues screen. Slightly alarming, have they ever clocked me on OCUK? What do they know......

Something I've mentioned before but one of my brothers used to do internet provisioning for some BBC shows on location like Question Time and several times noticed people browsing these forums while waiting on stuff, including public figures.

Back from an evening out in London (meet & greet fellow students). My ears are ringing and I already souns like barry white tomorrow morning will be fun talking to a recruiter :D

AITA? The way the guy messaged me seemed like he didn't want to mess around but then seemingly routinely agrees to buy something then haggles on the door step lol.

+ Is this still available?
- Yes it is
+Brilliant, could collect tomorrow.
+ To save any messing about, it’s about an hour 20 drive for me to get there, so what would you accept if I collect tomorrow?
+ I’ve had a bunch of people mess me about so far so don’t want to drive all the way there if not serious.
- Yeah market place can be the wildwest! Lowest I will go is 70 as that's what I paid a few weeks back without the grey boxes. I am working tomorrow so it'd have to be in the early evening
+ If we can get closer to 50, I’m happy to come to a deal. I say that figure as that’s what a lot of them are being listed for. Like I say, not interested in haggling on the door so want to agree now as it’s such a long drive.
+ What sort of time?
- Na all good mate, best of luck
+ You do 60 to meet in the middle?
- It is now £90

I bought a phone off marketplace last year.

Me - Is it available?
Him - yes.
Me - can I get the IMEI code to checkMEND?
Him - number given
Me - I can be there at 7pm tonight?
Him - yes that’s fine.

Drove there after work (45mins), checked it over, paid asking price. The end.

If you're the guy in bold then yes a bit.

Asking for your best price, going 20 under that, getting a no, and asking if you'd meet in the middle, is pretty standard haggling.

I told you 70 was the lowest, stop following me around

:D:p

Best price defeats the object of offering under though... It's the price AFTER the haggling and undercuts.

To be fair I didn't mind his cheeky offer. What was intolerable was his preamble nonsense about how he had been messed about (and then pushing for a tenner off something dirt cheap already), and signaling doorstop haggling.

Update:

+ This is Facebook, it’s about negotiating mate. 60 wasn’t taking the **** and I offered a quick no issues sale.
+ You serious about selling or not, don’t want to waste my time.
- I told you 70 final price. Your reference to being messed around and door step haggling are red flags so I increased it to 90

Yes. It's just petty and childish going higher.

Whether you think the buyer was taking the **** a bit or not, it's still more mature to simply maintain that 70 was the lowest you would go.

It's just antagonising and inviting confrontation (which presumably is what you wanted).

I think a lot of these haggling 'techniques' (lmfao) are a weight on your soul. Just give the tat you're selling to a charity or leave it, responsibly, outside your house for someone to benefit from.

Namaste.
