Was 150 yds from OCUK - now 0.5 mile; they moved
After many years of not exercising and drinking loads of beer over the years I have decided to lose it!

I'm 5ft 11" and just weighted myself at 16 and 3/4 stone! I'm 32 years old, and up until I was 19/20 I had a 32" waist, but around this time I stopped playing football and just generally stopped exercising. I slowly pilled on the pounds, mainly from years of drinking booze, I have 2-3 beers a day 4-5 days a week and maybe binge drink 10+ pints about every 7-10 days.

I have decided to change and get fitter.

I bought some new trainers, and went for a jog tonight.

1.93miles in 29mins and 14seconds. I didnt manage to jog it all, I started walking twice, maybe three times to catch my breath back.

Anyway here is a pic of today me!

I got in from my run tonight and had a craving for a pork and stuffing sarnie lol, but I resisted and grabbed an apple.

I want to get down from a 40" waist down to a comfy 34"

Well not the best to be honest.

Have takeaway twice a week typically. I tend to find salads boring as hell, I need ideas for rich flavoursome healthy food to be honest.

And I 100% know I need to cut my drinking down lots! Thats the main thing. I drink loads of Coke also. I tend to go to a local cash and carry type place called Makro and buy a 24 pack 330ml cans of coke, and tend to do that every 10 days or so. About a week ago I started drinking pure apple juice in stead when at home.

oh and meat... haven't felt the need to buy any, at all

Are you mad! I cannot live without meat. Love meat, help me with what meat is healthy! Pressed ham maybe? or something similiar? For sarnies.

What makes things difficult is that I work from home with regular visits to places like OcUK and their competitors. Grabbing some food from KFC/Burger King etc is easy. But I'm trying to get into M&S for their brown bread sandwiches are wraps then.

I would have thought Apple juice would be fine lol. See I have lots to learn still.
Also Tea is out the question I cannot stand tea. Hate it! Water is ok, but so boring, what about flavoured water, is that ok?

This is my food and drink intake today.

Brekkie - glass of apple juice
Lunch - Pot noodle lol
Dinner - Cod fillet and new potatoes
2 Cans of Coke throughout the day
Bottle of water for my run
Apple when I got back from my run.

I do like the Morrision porriidge pots, but I dont like the Sainsburys versions.

So many things I need to learn, I thought cornflakes would be great!

I've also pre-booked a gym trial day for Thursday too, went tonight before the run, but they dont accept on the door trials so had to book one. If I like the place I will sign up.

Are strawberries and green grapes good or bad?

Also I be enjoy chilli pestachio nuts. Good or bad?

See at lunch time if I'm at home (working) I either don't eat as I'm working, or if I do I grab a pot noodle or a bag of crisps and a cake as generally I'd rather carry on with my work. What is a good quick easy lunch meal? I know bread is bad, but I can only think of sandwiches which are quick.

pretty much all fruit is good, but if you eat too much you'll get the runs.. just have some each day

nuts contain healthy fat, nuts coated in junk aren't so great... but moderation is very important with nuts... so maybe only buy a small pack at the shop - until you get the hang of portion control

Yes, normally I crack open the bag and eat the whole lot in 1 go, and thats a large bag too about a 700g bag with the shells on. I know I cannot continue with that trend.

What about salt? I cook all my veg/potatoes etc with salt normally as i find it adds to the taste. How bad is it?

Well I just got off my chair and my legs are aching already from tonights run. Didnt think such a short jog/walk would be so bad lol.

Just shows how unfit I am.

Not sure yet, as I maybe out all day from 7am till about 7pm with work, but its TBC.

I may have a go at making a soup with the veg I have left before it goes "off". Never made a soup before though, so any help or advise would be good.

Fruit will be used if I feel snackish inbetween main meals.

I have frozen some of the chicken fillets for next week also.

Seems my intake is quite good today. (I know put it as yesterday, cos I logged yesterdays after midnight so did it on today in error - so they are both reversed)

never made a soup but there's stuff on youtube about it

nice bunch of food you've bought :D

Thanks, I've never been determined to lose weight before like this. Anyway was going to go for a light jog today, but my legs ache from yesterday, so saving it till Thursday now I think. MY body needs to adjust to the exercise. I'm going Thursday hopefully to sign up and use it, then I intend to go on Sundays and Tuesdays and Thursdays from then onwards.

Do I just add the veg chopped up into small ish pieces and bit of butter and cook at the low-medium temp in water for a few hours etc, maybe adding a few herbs into the mix?

well today I joined the gym.

Eased it gently. 30mins on the running machine. Burnt 250 cal, doing 4km, then did 20mins on the bike machine burning 150 cal, doing 8km The bike was too easy at lvl 1, i turned it up to lvl 7 too..
Tried the skiing runner thingy, whatever it is called, but my legs were mashed by them, so that was it. I gave up!

Food today was Apple juice for brekkie
Mushroom omlette for lunch. 3 eggs cooked in a dash of olive oil. Can of coke.
Apple as a snack this afternoon.
Dinner was lettuce, cucumber, tomato, red pepper and new spud salad with baby prawns and a lime dressing. and a can of sprite zero.

I had quite a big portion cos the gym made me really hungry

Dude, Cut the sugary drinks, I couldn't believe how much difference it made when I just drank water. Also, I wouldn't rely too much on what the gym equipment says you have burnt, just know that it aids your weight loss but, the real work is diet.

Have you considered lifting weights as part of your weight loss scheme. I'm not sure if this is accurate but, I believe that a person with high bodyfat will gain better results from weightlifting than a totally cardio based program. Its also a lot more fun.

The reason I'm still on the sugary drinks is that I buy 24 packs of Coke from a cash and carry. So they are already in my house, I am still drinking them until they have run out, but once they have gone. I intend to go to the same cash and carry and buy a bulk pack of bottled flavoured water instead.

I am not throwing out the coke I have as it is a massive waste. I know its not great, but tbh I was drinking 5-6 cans a day before I decided to lose weight, I'm now down to 2. I also think that cutting out 5-6 cans of coke immediately is not good, as the addictive nature of the caffiene I need to ween off.
