I'm curious about the OP mentioning earlier that the thief removed Samsung Dive - surely he would need the password to do this?

Also, AVAST mobile security seems to work similarly to Cerberus if anyone fancies an alternative? :p

I notice people keep mentioning about serious burglaries in the area and a crackdown, but if this guy was the theif, he is a more of a chancer I'd say, but still a criminal obviously.

Yak.h'cr you said he entered via your unlocked back door right while eating in another room? What is your property like, does it back onto an alley that anyone could walk down and effectively try their luck at? When I lived in Yorkshire in such a situation, you would get the odd chancer climbing in open windows and such.

As for people suggesting going to the press and telling the police how you've been spreading the information on the internet, that is silly, at least give them time to do something first.

How do you stop someone simply uninstalling it :o

I have hidden it from my app draw but it still appears in my app installed/uninstall list.

I don't know how he did it, but it's not appearing when I log in to the Dive website whereas it originally showed up and even enabled gps for me to track the phone. Big thanks to Dimple as I wasn't aware of Dive and its ability to turn the GPS on on a non routed phone.

It was a very 'chancer' like crime. Apparently there are a huge number of these crimes currently occurring in Sheffield at the moment :( . The back door is very easy to access via an ally. The door used to just get locked at night/when out.

I dont know how the cops work here in the UK; but from what I read about how many phones get stolen everyday in the UK (314 in london alone perday).

I doubt the cops will do anything; unless like people have suggested they are put in the limelight. Many people interested in what will happen.

Maybe I have that already. Just tried to uninstall and the 'uninstall' and 'force stop' buttons aren't usable.

Surely the extra paper work is worth it for increased 'stats' in solving cases?

But normally I think they would just get a vague description of what the thief looked like, or maybe a shoe imprint/partial fingerprint to go on. Which I could understand being a huge amount of work to chase down and probably quite unlikely to be worth the trouble.

They've got a lot more info for this burglary so in theory it should be more worthwhile investigating! Even if it's just knock on the door, does the description match, if we ring the number can we hear it ringing in the flat...

I wonder how loud that alarm thing you mentioned would be if you made it go off. You could wait nearby and sound it off when they are at the door; but would they hear it outside? ...

how about your friends camera equipment; think he has that too?

We've glossed over a very important point here; which takeaway had you been to, what did you have and would you recommend it?
