This might not be a good idea but i'll ask anyhow..

I have only ever had one problem with the Mrs regarding games and that is when I used to stay up to 3-4 at the weekend when grinding Jedi in SWG ;)

That's pretty much the only thing she does complain about, if I stay up stupidly late on a weekend playing something. I do snore and she says I get worse if I'm up too late, but I tend to just crash in the spare room if I'm up beyond 2am so I don't wake her up.

Yep, she is being very selfish and telling me, in fact being vindictive and nasty towards a hobby just so she can get me to go to bed at 10pm. It was never going to happen.

I can go to bed at 1am, wake up at 7am and that'll be more then enough sleep. So, to fill in those hours where shes asleep I play a game, but man have we bickered over it...

My wife, whilst not a gamer herself, really likes to watch me play certain games. This year she has sat through all the Uncharted games, Heavy Rain, Tomb Raider and TLoU. If she's not really that into what she is seeing (Dark/Demon's Souls etc) she is happy to sit and read next to me. I don't game much in the evening though it's mostly at weekends but if I do then it's only for an hour or so when we get in from work. Though if there is a game that she wants to watch me play I might play for 2-3 hours every night until 'we've' completed it.

My GF is a bit tetchy over it but she doesn't have any hobbies herself and no matter how much I try to encourage her to try to do something to alleviate her boredom she just sits around watching junk on the television. Which is fair enough but don't moan because I am enjoying my hobby :p.

We have joint things which we do but I still need "me" time and that involves slobbing in my office playing games on the PC or PS3 :).

I once fell asleep on the sofa, took me weeks to calm her down from that.. lol

That's pretty similar to my situation. She's really not into gaming and can be weirdly anti-gaming at times, for example she apparently hated GTA 5 before it was even released because of all the hype and media attention it was getting. Didn't stop me playing it nigh on every waking moment until 100% mind. :D

Annoyingly though, we only have one TV, a 42" plasma I bought for myself before we even moved in together. Obviously, if I'm going to be console gaming in the evenings, I'll be using my TV! For some reason though she sometimes feels entitled to watching crappy TV on it, even if I'm having an absolute blast playing something and she just wants to "veg out". I've suggested us getting another TV that we could pay for together, I'd be quite happy to move all my kit into a different room so she can have the front room for her crappy programs but of course, that's not good enough!

Davey, does you wife have any sisters? :D

We had to get another TV, and a laptop. I on purpose got a laptop with HDMI in so as I could use my PS3 on it. I 100% refuse to sit there and watch big brother, eastenders or endless junk...

I can hardly stomach any TV as such, i'd be perfectly happy to never have a way to receive any live broadcasts, top gear and F1 can be obtained via BBC iplayer..

Whereas the missus loves junk TV, I love video games and movies. We are totally incompatible when finding things to do in the living room in regards to entertainment. But not to say we don't try sometimes, we try to watch the odd movie, the odd game like Heavy Rain, and i've sometimes watched a few cooking shows with her..

If you've got some stones on you just buy it and tell her when she's calmed down that the second TV will relieve tension. :)

Very similar to me: the TV we had in the living room came from me when I moved out of my Mum's house. Unfortunately as it is in the living room I kind of have to cede ground with it being in a shared space.

All solved now: I bought another TV and just stuck it in my office so I can game in peace and she can watch cack in peace. Does sometimes feel a bit like we're living separate lives so I try to make double effort to ensure joint time is good :D.

You just have to look it as this. What does your wife do in the evening? Watch some terrible soaps or things like The Only Way Is Essex?

People do what they enjoy doing. Your wife has things she likes to do, and so do you.

I don't care what people think of me gaming - I only get a few hours in the evening to do it anyway, may as well enjoy it.

My fiance is fine about me gaming. We get our twin's to bed, watch something on Netflix/eat tea and then she normally goes to bed (loves her sleep :D) and I spend a few hours online. As long as it's not all you do like someone previously said.

She's not a gamer but when I was playing Heavy Rain she sat and watched me play through that. In my opinion you should be able to understand and appreciate each other's different hobbies.

Do none of your wives have Android/iOS phones/tablets to play games on? If not, I suggest surprising them with one at Christmas and watch them get hooked. They'll soon stop moaning at you. :D

My wife has a Galaxy Tab 3 I think...she surfs to her hearts content...but the amount of time she interupts my gaming time to show me a bag she likes, or make-up/hairstyles etc from Youtube......

Put restrictions on to block the browser. She is clearly going off the right track there. Plants v Zombies should do it.

That's my plan really but I've been trying to get her to go halves on the new TV seeing as it's mostly for her benefit but she's not having it! Not yet, anyway...

Meh, who am I kidding, I'm obviously going to have to buy it myself!

About the phones/tablets, she's got a Galaxy S4 (wasted on her!) and a Kindle but the draw of The Only Way Is Essex is just too strong I guess? :p She's got a netbook too but doesn't like watching stuff on it, although she has done a few times recently due to my excessive GTA 5 gaming.

I should say, I generally don't spend all my time at home gaming, we watch quite a few movies and shows together in the evenings after work, but decent ones. :D

I got the missus an andriod phone, she said its too complicated to use and managed to work out how to use the internet, facebook and text message and make phone calls, thats about it..

Tried candy crush for her, wasnt interested..

Ah young Padawan, you need to learn the "I'm really not interested, but my face says I'm paying attention" look. As soon as that's mastered, you can glaze over when she does stuff like that :D
