this processor any good?

that cpu should work but im not sure whether the h81 chipset would let you overclock it,due to it being a K unlocked multi??

not sure

not sure

it has turbo boost heres from asus website and my motherboard supports the model number g3258

CPU
Intel® Socket 1150 for 4th Generation Core™ i7/Core™ i5/Core™ i3/Pentium®/Celeron® Processors
Supports Intel® 22 nm CPU
Supports Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0
* The Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 support depends on the CPU types.
* Refer to www.asus.com for CPU support list

yh but that chip will overclock to 4.5ghz+ and for that you would need the motherboard to allow you to adjust the cpu multiplier

it might be fine but im not sure,it wont let you oc the k chips 4770k for example

it would run at stock clocks but any higher I wouldn't know yet till someones tried it

What budget have u set for a cpu

really wanted i3 but money is a bit tight atm and want something so i can at least get my motherboard up and running

tbh i probably wont even be overclocking just looking a half decent cpu to get me up and running

try it,i cant see why it wont work,if your buying that cpu then you wanna oc it as it has an unlocked multi

if not id look at a regular i3 but one with hyperthreading

thank you for the quick replies guys maybe just go for one of the other gseries haswell to get me started

Not neccessarily. I overclocked my 4670k on the wifes Gigabyte B85-D3H to 4.4Ghz. The board has loads of overclocking options in the bios. It's just the standard bios which was released in January, not modded in any way. The pc i built for my sister in law using a Asrock H81-HDS also had some overclocking options in the bios. Several boards have the options in the bios even though it was supposed to have been disabled. I can't promise it will work with Devils Canyon or the Anniversary Pentium but it would be worth a shot in the case of the Pentium.

OP, if you want to clock one, before you buy go into your bios and see what options you have. You will also need to flash the bios to the latest version to ensure compatibility with the new cpu's.

that cpu does Max TDP 53 W, make sure your cpu cooler can do 53W++, you dont want it overheating.

My bad so basically the board mentioned hast he overlcocking options their either though they should have been disabled sorry i just thought the b series was more business class and ive always know z series from 1155 to be clockers

No need to apologise, that's what Intel wants people to think so that they go and buy a more expensive Z series board. It would be interesting to see if any other people have clocked anything on H or B series boards.

Disagree.
Intels official line is that their Z line is for overclocking, AIB's that are going against that are the ones in the wrong in this instance. This is nothing to do with Intel wanting believe to people X or Y.
Obviously, it's a very muddy line, as it's supposed to have been disabled, and we've obviously seen some are disabled, and you've shown that yours isn't.

That's not to say I agree with Intels official line, because I don't.

there was no cpu in the board, how can i flash it before cpu goes in? the mobo wasnt brand new and i dont know what was in it before i purchased it, it was part of a new computer that got damaged in transit, can i put cpu in so i can get into bios then flash it?

I was doing some research on this too,and stumbled across this post on overclock.net:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1493903/...-score-matching-stock-7850k/240#post_22402954

I did a build for someone with a h81 p33 and I tested one of my "k" chips in it.

It has overclock genie and all the voltage settings. They were still greyed out with 4670k though. The only way the pentium will have those settings unlocked is if the microcodes for cpu allow it.

So,this is why I was asking you about the CPU last time.

We need to see if Intel have been nice about the Pentium - I know that MSI have some B85 based overclocking motherboards for the Pentium dual core they hope to release. So they have probably found a workaround for the block Intel put on the workaround for the block Intel put on overclocking with lower end chipsets.
