This years Amazon Prime Sale.

It sucked, I got a wristband for wiping sweat and some resistance bands and some mosituriser, where I got to use the free £15 they gave out for signing up for their amazon version of google photo

Bought a few things, will probably return some:
512GB MicroSDs
NVME USB enclosures
NVME drives
blood pressure monitor
Ring cams
Dashcam
Kraken rum
some socks and a hoody :)

No cheap Lindor this time :(

High streets destroyed themself with
Poor prices
Poor range of products/choice
Closing stores in high foot traffic locations to instead open stores on business parks..
If they sell the item you want there's a good chance it's not in stock anyway....

The people making the decisions on store locations are clearly people who don't use stores like a normal person...

Imagine expecting everyone to travel 3-5+ miles to some business park on the edge of a city....

oh look a supermarket, Pet world, Currys and a halfords.... maybe a starbucks and a mcdonalds what a massive draw to get in the shoppers

Why wouldn't people just buy from amazon, no doubt cheaper, more convenient and a wide range of brands

High street shops pay more tax and have higher overheads.

That's not their decision unless they pack up, close the stores and become a increasingly online store out of a giant warehouse.

Other online retailers.....

Both days I looked through all the gear prime had sale and the only thing that caught my eye was a set of digital scales.

I'm sure the sales are just selling the same junk in bulk that constantly pop up on the normal lighting day sales.

Filthy tax dodging company siphoning our wealth and destroying domestic businesses.

Enough about the current government, what are your thoughts on Amazon?

Other online retailers.....

I try to use other online retailers - the problem is that almost invariably they are higher priced, charge extra for delivery on top, and usually that's for standard 3-5 business days shipping. If I'm in the middle of a project, I don't have the luxury of waiting a week for something I need to turn up. I don't mind paying a little more if it's something I can get locally (e.g. click & collect), but when you're talking an extra £10 on a £15 item, can you really blame people?

Not a bad deal but i got one on there in march for £133, much less than £170!

I picked one up for £100 from Argos in Feb ;)

Anyway, as for me, I picked up a new Eufy camera which I'd been keeping an eye on, and a couple of bottles of single malt (Talisker 10 year old for £26.50 :D)

As others have mentioned though, most of the big "discounts" are on tat that nobody wants, and is barely worth the discounted price, much less the original MSRP!!

The first time we properly did black Friday etc in the UK there was actual bargains. Even the Steam sales aren't what they were, you can't find top games for a few £ anymore.

But now it's rubbish. I see a lot of fake sales with stuff actually maked UP. Or junk they can't sell.

I ended up spending more than intended, but less than I half expected it wasn't particularly great unless you were after things like echos imo.

On the flip side what I did get was all stuff i'd been looking for/considering, things like a cheap lighweight set of BT earphones for my dad, some memory cards, a couple OTG adaptors for my phone etc.

Needed a 2Tb NVME and Amazon were only 40 or 50p cheaper (e: on a Prime deal) than Overclockers so ordered from OCUK instead.

I prefer to shop away from Amazon where possible.

Was actually some decent deals on NVMEs and Micro SD cards but a lot of fake deals - one thing on my Buy Again list was shown as £23.99 crossed out and on sale for £14.25 but has been £15.00 for weeks and between £15-19 for last 2 years, another was £40.00 in the sale showing £64.99 crossed out but went up to that from £49.99 a couple of days before the sale, now at £50.79 and showing £54.00 crossed out post sale - I bought one for £36.00 in the last sale.

Loads of stuff showing as 20-40% sale deal but was only 50p (less than 5%) less than the normal price and/or the normal price went up just before the sale.
