Any thoughts or changes to my future build? Any changes to make to save a buck or any significant upgrades for a small increase in price? Decisions decisions.

Also anyone at OCUK know when the Y70 will be in stock?

Personal choice
But spending that amount
Yet only having 32gb of ram in there
Seems a bit wrong
64gb would be minimum I would want
In a build of that cost

Send ocuk a Web ticket
Asking if they know when it will be in stock
Probably the best idea

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,947.85 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Cooler: this (in white).

Reasons for changes:
- X3Ds reaction to fast memory: "meh".
- Motherboard: good enough for X3D, retains one PCI-E 5.0 M.2 slot, but drops PCI-E 4.0 graphics (doesn't matter with a 4090 and unlikely to matter with a 5090).
- SSD: usually you don't need a white heatsink with a white build, since they're hidden under the board heatsinks.
- Case: cheaper, but still lots of room for graphics card, AIOs, etc.
- PSU: I don't think you need SFX for your chosen case, since it supports ATX? 1000 gives you more headroom.
- Cooler: cheaper, X3Ds can be air cooled for gaming.

any significant upgrades for a small increase in price?
What do you use the PC for? Only games?

I should just have shouted @Tetras to begin with lol
I suck at lists of stuff

But yeah 64gb of white team group
Would only be 10 quid more
Than 32gb dominator

Did wonder why sff psu

I doubt they will want to change case though
That built in display is probably
Main reason they want it
Me I do that on the cheap with an old 10 inch yoga tablet :)

That's mint, i changed the Mobo, SSD, RAM and PSU saved £300

Kept cooler for aesthetics, Case would only be lowered to Y60 since that's what the whole white build is based around (I can get the same in black for £3000 with better branded parts)
but if i did change case to Y60 i would save an extra £150 and wouldn't have to wait lol.

and yeah this rig will be mainly used for gaming mobos not so much an issue as once the mobo is dated i tend to upgrade. Main reason i'm getting rid of my old and trust 1080 ti rig is because i want the new SSDs, even this GPU still performs admirably.

i don't think most games would utilise 64gb, i would have probably saved a few quid and got the 6000hz dominators too for aesthetics but the teamgroup ones actually look decent.

And yeah the hit the nail on the head haha, whole build is around the case basically.

No most games won't need 64gb currently
64gb would just be for future proofing
Which with an expensive build its something
I always try to do
Yeah you could add more ram at a later date
But might as well just do it

Yeah i'm trying future proof for flight simulator 2024, star citizen etc.

Although most games i play are older simulators like Arma 3 which are just poorly optimized.

I'll have a look into the ram though, see what benefits i would get from having more memory but like i said my main reason for the upgrade is the new SSDs, sick of being the last to load xD

Not sure how much faster loading times
Would be
Sata ssd compared to m2 nvme
Probably because I got my first nvme m2 8 years ago lol
Samsung sm951
Still actually working fine too
Only used sata ssds for storage space 2nd backups since
Now got 5 x m2 drives
So been a very long time since I worried about
My loading speeds :)

I even thought about Lian Li's 216, but then I thought "nah, that's a bit much" (of a saving, if you built your spec around the case). You could look at Lian Li's O11D, the design is similar to my untrained eyes.

That hyte y70
Looks basically a y60
But with that 14 inch touch screen built in
So extra £150 for the screen
Is it worth the extra is going to be down
To personal preference
It's pretty cool
But with my 10 inch yoga
Once I set my sensor panel up
I didn't bother doing anything else with it
So would you get £150 worth of use out the panel?
Or would it be a one day wonder?

You can actually buy the screen for the Y60, and yes it's a total gimmick and won't really get "Used" with me, i'll stick a fallout bobble head on it or something.

I just like how it breaks up the visuals of the case, but i have made that mistake in the past, spending a ton on the rig and skimping on visuals and decided i would rather spend the extra few quid this time around for something i've got to look at for the next 5-6 years. :D

It might also help me look after it a bit more lol.

Nice build..guess if you're going for the looks the case makes a statement
Personally, wouldn't bother with 64gb ram..32gb is futureproof..most games(well, all I've played on my rig) don't use 16gb ram, so already have 16gb unused as futureproofing..by times games get to point of actually using over 32gb and it becomes an issue, guessing ram speeds will be north of 10,000mhz speeds, so prob want to upgrade that anyway.
Regarding speed, 6000c30 still sweet spot..below vid shows it beating 7600C36 in 42 games benchmarks..not by much, but guessing timings slightly more important so 6000c30 probably have a slightly bigger win vs 6400C40 if it beats 7600C36. Seeing as you're going for looks also, and want corsair aio and asus mobo, I'd be tempted by the white veangeance rgb 6000c30 or pay a bit more and get the new dominator ram. At least icue software will then control and sync all the rgb for mobo, ram and aio(and be able to do fan curves etc). If you having some other fanscfor intake on side(if you putting aio on top), I'd get matching fans for same reason

unless you getting it cheaper, I'd pay extra £10 and get the link aio. Fans have little rgb on side also, but for extra £10 you get the 1 cable and controller box rather than having to deal with rgb fan hub and commander pro(or not if not getting any other fans and plug directly into mobo)...will be a lot cleaner build. each fan has a temp sensor in it as well , so they are a little bit more advanced, but it's the link system which is the stand out feature.

only other thing is the psu isn't atx3.0, and seeing as you're going for a 4090, I'd maybe look at one that is, as they meant to handle the transient power spikes better. Can't see any white ones, but you wont see the psu anyway, and just get some custom white cables for it..atx3.0 shouls also come with a cable to plug directly into the 12 socket on the gpu, so doing away with the adaptor. you either get one that has the 12 pin connector on the psu also, or one that has(for example only the rm1200x shift, can a cable that going into the pcie standard slotx2 and combines into the 12pin at other end, so the bit you see is still one cable..put the 1200w shift in as I know that deliver full 650w to gpu.
something like the msi below with some custom white cables, but as looking also spotted the phanteks 1200w platinum atx 3.0 in white, which solves white problem, so worth a look, but it comes cable free, as a lot of higher end builders use custom cables so they sell those seperately, in order to sell the psu itself at a lower price(or just to make you pay more)

I changed the PSU to that one and cpu cooler as like you say i want ease of control and easy cable management, which extra cables/fans would you recommend?

But yeah my bro has just bought a similar rig, i just want mine to look the bee's, going to wait and see if OCUK will stock the 6000hz dominators too if they can be controlled with icue.

at work so hard to look at mo..need to double check fan config on the case too. For the ram sticks, if you know place that distributed nvidia fe cards, they have the new dominator sticks..pricey, but look good, and the new ones you can change the top part to change the look I believe..otherwise they have white veangeace rgb 6000c30 for £140...these retailers always have the white more expensive, then every so often they all seem to have a white sale where it goes cheaper, just have to time it right.
Are you mounting gpu vertically on the deck or on the board itself?

Yeah the white is whats costing the money so far lol.

GPU will be mounted horizontally infront of the front window, which i think is the only place you can mount them in that case. but part of the reason i want Y70 is because it leaves a little more room for GPU than Y60.
