Thoughts on my suit - Got the biggest interview tomorrow

Nice one! Sounds like you nailed it. The career prospects will be worth a year on low pay surely?
Indeed, just hit me when I was there . . I would be living alone. At uni it's different, as you get to meet other students, but work is completely different. I'm the type that tends to make friends easily but it's going to be very daunting to start with :(

Oh and I managed a perfect half-windsor knot, I looked great today, received a number of nice comments :)

See! People call me a snob for paying attention to detail but it will be noticed by those who appreciate it.

Sounds like you may have nailed it. Best of luck and keep us up to date.

Nice one dude! :D

Also nice one for putting the effort into getting properly suited and booted. A man in a well-fitting suit just looks the business and gives an excellent impression.

Good luck with bagging that job!

Thursday Night Joke

I was driving to work, when my boss phoned me, said "you've been promoted"
I swerved.
He rang again, said "you've been promoted again"
I swerved sharply.
He rang a third time, said "you're managing director"
I ran into a tree.
Police officer came by and asked what happened.
I replied "I careered off the road."

A Tommy Cooper classic :D

Mate, I live down here in Oxford. Love it. I had a few mates that worked in the BMW plant actually, it's only 15mins away from me tops. Where abouts are you staying? I am sure we can sort you out with some new mates down here... can show you how to drink properly too... ;):p

Well done!

Also picked out this belt:

Just need to pick up some cuffs and I'm ready!

It's the biggest opportunity as of yet, I will be over the moon if I get it. If I don't, I've learnt so much and I've been offered a couple of interview over at some great companies. However, I'd like this job more than any that I've seen.

Wish me luck! :)

To be brutally honest... the suit and shirt will pass; they are smart, conservative, and well chosen. The belt will probably not be seen, but it's a good one. The cufflinks are a nice touch; they match the belt and complement the suit. So far, so good.

However...

The tie is chavtastic beyond belief; you might as well grab a fake burberry cap and complete the look, tbh. (But fair play for managing a Windsor Knot). The shoes are excruciatingly hideous; they scream of adolescence, not professionalism. Black Bluchers, brogues or Oxfords are the best way to go.

I am fussy about my clothes, so don't take this personally. And best of British luck with the outcome of your interview. :)

PS. You can get rid of the "new suit smell" by sending it to the dry cleaners, if you have time.

Central Oxford would be very expensive, so it goes without saying house/flat share would be an option. Look at what's on offer on Gumtree or in the local rag (Oxford Mail). Try to steer clear of Cowley, Barton Estate or Blackbird Leys if you can help it!

Also Rosehill & Woodfarm :)

u want somewhere nice like woodstock or kidlington :D

I got the job . . kind of

Thanks for coming down to the plant yesterday. I have just spoken to x x and we are both agree that you would be the perfect candidate for the placement and we will not be interviewing anyone else.

However, I am afraid we are not able to promise a placement to you just yet as x has to refer the position to the company recruitment round at the end of the month. We will contact you immediately when we have an answer – I hope this is not too inconvenient as I know you have other interviews.

Booner, do you mind if I add you on msn?

Congrats, but you will have to wait and see... better than no response I suppose, but leave it on a cliff hanger!

Go for it mate, please excuse if I am set to busy, I am usually on msn when tired/bored/lazy after a long day's work/gym/rugby routine :D
