Thoughts on Silver Arrow?

my thoughts on the Silver Arrow?

i dont like it one bit im afraid, it just doesnt look right, slim shiny silver fins, only 4 heatpipes, large fans that dwarf the towers? no thank you :)

And yet it matches and in some cases beats the D-14 which has two more, it isn't always down to the number of heatpipes, their thickness and the design of the radiator is also key.

I do get what you mean about the looks, but that alone isn't worth the £15+ extra imho.

im still testing with the help of a ocuk member. upto 4.8 at moment, volts are at 1.38. temps are hitting 58 max. gonna get it above 5ghz if i can keep the volts low enough. Dont wanna rush straight to 5 though, i did that before with silly volts not knowing what i was doing what this new chip. But im getting there.

Do these temps seem OK or are they a bit high? These temps are after the pc had been switched off 8 hours and with 10 mins of minecraft played.

Temps seem very similar to my Tranquillo which only cost half the price of the SA.

Cooler seems to run a bit loud sometimes so I'm wondering if I haven't got something right (such as not enough TIM or enough air intake etc)

Well what are the specs? Any Overclock on the 2500K? Case?

You'll want to load it with something like Prime95 Blend or LinX really to see what the max temps you are getting. That is where the Silver Arrow really comes into its own.

Also one of the three fans is running at 800RPM, do you know which one that is? Both fans on the Silver Arrow should be running at similar speeds. Unless they are fans 2 and 3.

Stock 2500K (3.30GHz) case is CM-690II Advanced (keep forgetting I no longer have specs in sig).

The case has 3 fans which are all running of their own pwm fan header on mobo. Both SA fans are connected to a pwm y-spiltter into the cpu_fan header.

Well we are having some warmer weather, load it with Prime95 or LinX and let us know your load temps.

What's a good time to leave Prime95 running? an hour or so?

Doesn't make too much difference really, max temps should arrive quite quickly. Just once it stabilises and you don't see any more increases, 30 minutes should do it.

Im also interested to know this! Also the temps in idle or browsing the net and gaming load temps.Ive just installed the Noctua NH-D14 and so far not overly impressed.Though I may be expecting too much from it as the weather is quite warm and muggy.

Looks fine, especially in this weather, now clock that 2500K! :D

That is full load temps if you look.

It is instock at another major retailer, so if OcUK purchased from the same production run it should be soon. Webnote them and ask, or get it from the other retailer.

What vcore do you need for that 2600k in your sig! at 4.7GHz btw?
