Big storm here last night - pretty much constant lightning for about two hours. One of the claps of thunder was probably the loudest single thing I've ever heard.
Getting some lightning here - not many strikes but they are really long heavy rumbles and torrential rain interspersed with short sharp high intensity hail showers. Must be a lot of energy up there somewhere.

Great thunderstorm down here atm. Hailstones whipping against the windows. Marvellous stuff. It will probably be sunny again in a hour. Such an odd country is this.
A few weeks ago we had a pretty big thunderstorm going here in Chelmsford during one of my night shifts. At one stage I thought the lightning had struck down in the car park outside as there was such a big bang outside. And you know it is a good thunderstorm when the corridors in the wards get lit up by the lightnings at times
Got a cracker going on at 1100 feet in the Peak Park right now. Incredible thunder, sideways lightening, I'm not about to stand outside on a hilltop any time soon!
Shame I wasn't in a position to record it at the time - was ridiculous here for nearly an hour - less than 2 seconds between each lightning strike so continuous sound.
