Thunderstorms 2026

Incoming!

Those storms up north look like American style supercells! Is anyone here under one? I would be on the lookout for large hail and tornadoes

The one which passed over Bath area and then into London at the start of the heatwave was somewhat like those American supercells, some torrential rain with it not sure if anyone had hail.

Not like the golfball size hail we had the other week that wrecked loads of cars and conservatories.

Another epic storm kicking off over the Medway towns right now. Not quite as intense as on Monday night, but getting some regular huge flashes.

I am in a whatsapp argument that this is fake or sped up
It's probably real I saw similar last year from newcastle looking north west it lasted for 2-3 hours constant lighting in the far distance across pretty much the whole horizon.
I'm 6 stories up so can see past all the houses etc

a cars headlights go past in that video moving at seemingly normal speed too

The storms that went through Eastbourne n co last night were great, didn't do anything to help the humidity and heat in this flat man. Still 30c with all windows open now while it rains outside

massive number of flights delayed/cancelled into UK - sounded like easyjet are handlimg things as well as the ryan air family seating affair;
apparently down to them to pay to put you on the next scheduled flight from any carrier , but they are not revealing that to customers;
interview with people returning from Greecee from which there are many cancellations.

Holland getting hammered, 200+ strikes per minute currently! :eek:

We're in Assen for the MotoGP and it was absolutely insane. I've not seen a storm like that since I lived in South Africa decades ago.

I also lived in Holland for 8 years and could probably count on one hand the amount of lightning strikes I saw in all that time so it was absolutely incredible to see at 3am this morning.

Glad it's cooled everything down a bit, the heat here has been unbearable.
