Thunderstorms 2026

Came absolutely hurling down for an hour near Bath. Naturally the neighbours hopped into their little plunge pool in what roughly equated to a mild hurricane
 
Been up since 3am when I was awoken by the loudest thunderclap I've ever heard, set off a few car alarms nearby here in NW London. This storm was almost biblical - lightning flashes every few seconds and a mad downpour so my town has to be flooded again. Essentially London got hit hard with a lovely storm!

Easily one of the best storms I’ve ever seen in the UK, almost 2 hours of constant heavy rain and lightning.
 
Yeah got woken up by it (we're down towards Epsom but still caught the edge) and some of those rumbles! Plenty of flashing too - all so close yet so far away.

Glad we got a good downpour though as it's all needed especially at the allotment!
 
It’s starting again. This weather is nuts. Friend of mine had water pouring through the ceiling. Didn’t get the worst of it here last night, but the flashes and thunder in the distance were constant. Can’t believe it’s still going at 6am.

Woken around 4am with a spectacular storm and monsoon rain. Bright and sunny now.
 
I'm in the middle of a loft conversion and half the roof is just tarps.

Needless to say they were overwhelmed pretty quickly and I spent two hours of the night trying to stop it going through my ceilings. Am amazed I was mostly successful, place could've been a disaster zone this morning. Not slept much since and can still hear dripping into various buckets.

At least what did get in should dry out quickly today.
 
I also got woken up at 4am by that epic storm, constant thunder and lightning! Our poor pup was terrified though

Had my alarm set for 6am to get up for work, but the storm woke me up at 5am and I couldn't get back to sleep :(

Much needed rain though.
 
I got absolutely drenched in Somerset yesterday. Left the office and ran to the carpark, couldn't look to my left as the rain was coming down so hard it was genuinely hurting my eyes.
My shoes are socked through so couldn't wear them this morning. And my car seat is socked as I was wet through running to the car, had to put a towel down over the seat
 
So I slept through it all last night, my client at work today is shocked I slept through it all as it was mental according to them.
I've slept through a ram raid on the shop downstairs, bit of water isnt going to wake me up :D
