Thunderstorms 2026

That's ********? He can't remember a 2 hour+ storm in 35 years of being in London?
Born and raised here and I don't remember a storm this intense in 50yrs! Honestly when I woke up to the thunderclap at 3am I thought it was an explosion and then I saw flashes of light repeatedly. It was like a scene out of the Skyline film! My town got flooded instantly (always does) but the waters have calmed down now as the heat starts to arrive :o

By far the longest and biggest area covered I remember here. So much lightning for such a long time.

Yeah during covid lockdown 1 or 2.
I was upstairs asleep, exgf was downstairs playing PS, ram raided shop below but next door, shook the flats and made horrendous noises.
I got woken up by the ex asking where the gopro was to film it, I fell back to sleep....

For ref, if she had said someone's trying to break into ours, I would have been up and ready for the fight, but no danger means Sid stays sleeping lol

So I slept through it all last night, my client at work today is shocked I slept through it all as it was mental according to them.
I've slept through a ram raid on the shop downstairs, bit of water isnt going to wake me up :D
It was so loud. I sleep with earplugs and it was like a gunshot going off.

Most peeved - we only got a little sprinkle of rain, some wind, but other than the distant flashes (no thunder), it passed us by.

Did get more rain late morning but it's now full on heat..

As we broke the UK record today locally, I'm hoping for a cracking good thunderstorm Thurs night/fri morn, I do love a good nighttime thunderstorm !
