Thunderstorms 2026

Currently camping in the forear of dean, thunderstorm to hit from 4am, we've got 20miles of canoeing to start at 9am. Expecting it to get cancelled as Wye water levels can change rapidly.

Been awhile since I've done that - as a kid I always found Symonds Yat a peculiarly place name heh.

Just had a huge rumble of thunder shortly followed by a huge flash of lightning.....then I was sat in breakfast in the dark!

You're right near me then!

A thunderstorm is going over us(Northamptonshire) but it looks like a small one when looking at the Metoffice map. Just don't want a big slow moving one as we have flooding issues.

Don't think we had anything but rain here in Southampton through the night, or I slept very well!

Got some decent rain here but nothing spectacular. Fingers crossed the rain keeps coming for a few more days. Even then it won't touch the sides and will likely just run off/through.

I'm flying to London and we've been delayed 1h on the tarmac because of storms in Heathrow
.....

It can't be that bad surely?

Big storm here, rain was so heavy it flooded my garage, and whilst outside sorting this out there was a flash of lightning and the largest thunderclap I have ever heard - unfortunately it appears to have fried my HDHomerun tuner (which was attached to the antenna) and also the Mesh system it was attached too. Overall its going to cost me c£250 to replace :mad::(
